meme: save yvonne’s sight

oh gee, it had been a long time i have not done a meme… er… actually it is a long time i have not heard/seen a meme done by any blogger. i remember at one stage meme was in vogue. i really don’t like to do meme as i consider most of them kind of silly (and just for expressing this opinion, one blogger was mad at me!). well for sure there were silly meme and there were some good ones… even so good or bad i still consider meme kind of wasting time and what i dread was to tag others! they might not like to be tagged or when they were tagged, they do the meme out of obligation to me and not that they want to do it (because i guess they have the same view as me of meme!).

anyway just a few days ago i had been tagged to do a meme by ktemoc and this is one meme i wouldn’t say at all silly or waste of time or did not want to do it. this is one meme i wouldn’t miss for the life of me… because it is for a good cause, a very good cause – to save the sight of a young lady.

this meme has to do with… yes, as the heading suggest… saving the sight of yvonne fong. yvonne is one young spunky lady whom i got to know as far back as 2005. it was during the 2005 merdeka blogger project and 2005 blogathon, where i have to introduce blogs i like or new blog, that i introduce her blog. i also blog about her blogathon effort in which she raise funds for the eden handicap centre.

ah talking about raising fund, do you know that yvonne suffers from the rare disease neurofibromatosis (NF) and she had single-handedly raise funds for herself for her operations. six months ago she had lost her hearing and now she is in danger of losing her eyesight unless she goes for a surgery. the surgery in US will cost her a whooping RM158,000.000 (approx.)! She had already raised RM10,000 but of course this is not enough. she’s still in the process of raising funds by selling her own book ‘i’m not sick, just a bit unwell’ and also her custom-designed t-shirts. you can help by buying her book (in english and mandarin) and her t-shirt. another way you can help is of course to spread this meme. it will give her exposure and publicity. it is very easy to do and spread this meme. follow the instructions thus:

#—–

1. Create a blog entry titled “Meme: Save Yvonne’s Sight”

2. List three things you love to see. Add in the picture of Yvonne’s book cover. The URL is http://www.yvonnefoong.com/images/banner/my-story.jpg

3. End with the line, “Yvonne Foong is in danger of losing her eyesight thanks to neurofibromatosis (NF). Please find out how you can help her by visiting her blog at http://www.yvonnefoong.com.”

4. Tag 5 blog friends. Be sure to copy the rules, OK?

5. If you have a Facebook account, please check out Ellen’s new invention, a “feme” pronounced FEEM, a meme designed for Facebook here. And if you want to blog about NF, that would be great too!

—–##

ok i had already done step 1, so now i’ll do step 2.

the three things i love to see:

1. the smile of a baby

2. youngsters giving their seats to old people

3. rainbow!

yvonne

oh gee, now come the difficult part – to tag 5 persons! ok i’ll ‘ting tong tiang’ choose and if you are tag and you are not free to do the meme, it’s ok by me, but hopefully you will do it since it is for a good cause. if you had already been tagged, then just ignore my tag.

i’m tagging:

1. jimmy leow
2. bob jot
3. liewCF
4. simon talks
5. whatalulu

remember, jimmy, bob, liew, simon and lulu – copy the rules (from # to ##) in your blog, and make sure you do all the 5 steps (final step is optional). i thank you very very much, from the bottom of my heart if you do this meme. god bless you! however if you can’t do it for some reason, i thank you all the same (for reading this!).
