NGO`s and human rights group should be neutral! (re: palestine/israel)

this piece was written by my colleague, stanley, where he sent it to me yesterday. good one so am sharing it in my blog. i had wanted to put it up yesterday but don’t know why these days it had been so difficult to blog. the page was taking so long to load, so long to save and so on. so frustrated lah. been happening like this already for many days. could it be my computer (slow processor), streamyx line, wordpress host? maybe all combined to test my patience! grrr!

well i see that stanley’s letter appeared in malaysiakini today. you can read it in malaysiakini too but of course it is the edited one. in the meantime, go and sign the AVAAZ petition that calls for ceasefire on both side, not on our malaysian petition (if any) that calls on ceasefire from israel only!

ok here is stanley’s letter (highlight my own). the heading above is from stanley himself but in malaysiakini, the heading is ‘gaza conflict over something bigger than land’.

It is very disturbing for me to see many innocent children and women dying by the war in Gaza. It`s entering in to it`s 11th day and the civilians death toll is expected to rise more. Hamas and the Israel government are both unwilling to lay down their weapons therefor creating a path of death for more civilians. All over the World, there has been mass protest condemning Israel of it`s Air strikes and Ground offensive. Some called it a bloody war and some say it a slaughter or even an assault.

The media around the world is propagating the incident, making it look bad for Israel and taking sides on Palestine. Much criticism is being directed at Israel. And now, even Some NGO`s and Human Rights groups around the world are taking sights against Israel.

NGO`s around the world is giving an impression that they support terrorism. There is no call from most NGO`s, Human Rights groups and even Governments, that Hamas needs to stop firing rockets in to Israel. Has the world forget the number of innocent civilians, women and children that has died due to the deadly rockets fired by Hamas in to Israel? Why were there no protest and vigils when Hamas broke the siege fire agreement ? Of course, some would say it is a long story of the land dispute, But does that justify the act of terrorism ?

For what ever reason it is, the United Nations agreement cannot be ignored. The international laws needs to obeyed by both parties. This is for the sake of Peace in this world. This is for the sake of the innocent civilians whom don’t wish to be in this war. NGO`s around the world must take a neutral stand and call for peace from both side.

Some repeatedly blame Israel for the death of Civilians in the Gaza city. But it was Hamas whom decided to sacrifice innocent gazanians in this war. This is a dirty terror tactic played by Hamas. They choose Schools, Mosque and civilian’s homes to store their weapons and deadly bombs, Knowing that, it would be hard for Israel troops to destroy this places due to the international pressure. NGO`s and the Media are being drag in to Hamas propaganda, thus in a way showing their support for terrorism.

The world needs to remember that Israel had launched a Defensive Military Operation. It was for the sake of the millions of innocent civilian that lives in Israel. This people are in fear everyday of the deadly rockets that are fired by Hamas, and this has been happening for the past 7 years. Many of them are dead by now. Hamas has the capability of firing more than 200 rockets a day in to Israel. This type of terrorism needs to be destroyed completely from this world. The world needs peace. And that only can be achieved if all parties comes to an agreement and lay down their weapons. All sorts of terrorism needs to be defeated for peace of every nation in this world.

I extend my greatest solidarity for the civilians in Gaza that has been dragged in to this war by Hamas. The best that i can give from here is my prayers of protection upon the innocent. May peace come upon this nation and may we all live as brothers and sisters in unity and in one spirit. Evil would try to destroy this peace, but God plans on this nation is greater than all. The war in Gaza is not about a land dispute. It is something more and bigger than that. May this war come to an end.

View the anti terror video for a brief history of this war in Gaza and the real story behind it.

I would also advice all my readers to be careful in the vigils and demo you take part in regarding to the war in Gaza. Be sure that, the organizers take a neutral stand and are demanding for peace from both side. A bad example demo was the one which was organized by UMNO recently in front of the Palestine embassy. The demo only sided the Palestinians and the religion card was played. The demo even turn unruly when the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia got angry with the protesters for displaying the photos of Hamas and it`s leaders in their protest.
