today is D-day… and on fahmi reza
… for the ‘one people, one nation’ forum and malam bangsa malaysia get-together. i’m so excited. can’t wait for it. we had more than 50 persons registered as of yesterday. i was busy taking care of one very important thing – food! haha. surelah, food is always important to all malaysians… if not, we wouldn’t we known as bangsa malaysia. 🙂 well, for the RM10 that you pay, you will get tea and dinner (and interesting activities!).
ok so to all those who had registered to attend, please don’t forget to come early ok? registration starts at 4.30pm, of which tea is served. see, we take care of your stomach first. lol.
yesterday afternoon i met fahmi reza (picture left, taken from sun2surf), a nice friendly young man, to get the ’10 tahun sebelum merdeka’ DVD from him, which will be screened during the malam bangsa malaysia night. then when i went back home, i realised that sun2surf had a special interview on him. interesting read there. do hop over and read the whole interview ok. here, i would like to highlight one part, which more or less is relevant to our malam bangsa malaysia.
If you look at the People’s Constitution, they wanted to give birth to a new bangsa. They were conscious about breaking the Malay-Chinese-Indian racial categorisations. They wanted a new nationality, regardless of race.
One other thing I learnt from my interviews was that at independence, what was born was a nation, not a bangsa. That’s why we have this problem today of having three main races, when actually we should only have one, Bangsa Malaysia.
