have you spot the similiarity? fanatical extremist muslims demonstrating? nope. holding of placards? nope… but close. guess again. cannot? look closely at the placards… the words on them.

the similiarity is the word ‘allah‘ on both pictures… on the placards held by the demonstrators. picture A is quite clear – ‘may allah curse the pope’. picture B, the first line is not clear so i am going to tell you what it is. the first line is ‘jangan hina’ then you see ‘undang-undang allah’. put it together ‘jangan hina undang-undang allah’ which means ‘do not insult allah’s law’.

may allah curse the pope
do not insult allah‘s law

then we also have this iraqi insurgent group who threatened the pope with suicide attack with these words “We swear to God to send you people who adore death as much as you adore life”.

now, why in the world would they want to bring in allah’s name, i wonder? were they self appointing themselves as spokesmen for god? does thier god need them to fight for him?

i get pretty pissed off when i came across people invoking the name of god in such manner. if people claim their religion is a religion of peace, this also means their god is a peaceful god. would their god then want to curse people? would their god try to stop a peaceful forum because he (god) felt the had been insulted? (which, btw, was what people think he felt!).

it seems that most terrorists (ALL religions) liketo use the name of god in their fight. some militant groups, like hezbollah, have the name of god in it. hezbollah means ‘party of god’.

have you noticed that most wars, violence – buring of flags and effigies, bombing buildings, etc were said to be done in the name or religion (or god), when religion is suppose to promote peace, love and mercy. isn’t this so hypocritical?
“you shall not make wrongful use of the name of the lord your god, for the lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name” (exodus 20:7).
