are they so desperate?

POSTED: Thursday, 29/06/06, 12:35 AM   FILED: issues, politics, silly |

they… as in gomen in kelantan. desperate for what? for the orang asli to convert to islam.why desperate? willing to throw away RM10,000, together with perks like accommodation, a four-wheel drive vehicle and RM1000 monthly allowance. for whom? for muslim missionaries… if they marry an orang asli.

yes, apparently the kelantan gomen (i.e. PAS) was disappointed with the missionaires’ effort in converting orang asli to islam, therefore they were willing to offer those rewards to the missionaries.

    the weekend that past

POSTED: Tuesday, 27/06/06, 1:42 AM   FILED: personal |

ok a quick update on my tiring weekend.

friday: went to the college general for a seminar we organised. 60 people turned up! that was consider a lot looking at our usual seminar only about 20 - 30 turned up. in charge of registration and taking care of food and so on.

when i was riding my chaly from office to the college general, as i was nearing the college, chaly suddenly died on me! no matter how hard i kicked at him, he just wouldn’t start. a man who was at the opposite house where i stop chaly, spotted me in my predictment and came over to help me. he try to start but can’t, and he was so nice to go back to the house to bring some screwdriver or spanner to check chaly’s spark plug. no not the spark plug problem he said but dunno what some kind of thing that give ignition that was the problem he said. he asked me to push my bike to a motor shop somewhere nearby. nearby? but from what he described, it sounded so far and i have no strength to push chaly all the way. so i decided to phone my regular motor mechanic to come to the college to repair it for me. well he came to have a look and said the problem was quite serious and he needed to come back the next day bringing some tools/parts. i told him to come at 11.00am as i will be leaving the college at that time and need to use chaly.

    PPS birthday and miscl

POSTED: Friday, 23/06/06, 2:04 AM   FILED: blogging, personal |

    icon_pps_1.gif is 3 today!

    happy birthday PPS!

thank you, aiz, for starting and maintaining PPS.

PPS is great! without PPS, traffic to my blog would have been less!

PPS’s 3rd birthday is rather quiet… as contrast to PPS’s 2nd birthday, where there was an anniversary bash in KL and about 80 bloggers turned up!

    it WAS a mob

POSTED: Thursday, 22/06/06, 1:09 AM   FILED: government, politics, religion |

remember the article i posted by my friend, martin jalleh - ‘of stunted minds, swollen head and shallowed characters‘? that article appeared in aliran latest issue and it also appeared in malaysiakini, though under another heading, ‘wanted: protection from mob rule‘.

well, it seems that, there was one fatimah idris, who had responded to martin’s article here, where, among other things, she insisted that the ‘mob’ is not a mob. well, no fear, trust martin to come up with good valid points to rebuke her. i met martin yesterday afternoon and he told me he had responded to fatimah and will be sending me the article. well i received it when i got home in the evening, and here i present to you his article (click on ‘more’ to read).

i would like to highlight one paragraph from martin’s article:

Equally ‘prejudiced” was the police who told the organizers that the forum had to be cut short or cancelled because they felt that they might not have been able to control the crowd, which they claimed was threatening to storm the hotel. They strongly implied that the safety of the participants was at stake. If it was not a “mob” would the police have “adviced” that the forum come to an abrupt end?

yep. the police feared that these group of demonstrators would turned voilent and stormed the hotel where the article 11 forum was held. see? wouldn’t we refer to them as ‘mob’ then? if they were peaceful demonstrators, they wouldt have allowed the forum to go on while demonstrating outside. there wouldn’t have been so many police, including the riot police, if they were not a ‘mob’. remember i was right there in the thick of action and had taken a few shots of the mob.

enough. click on ‘more’ to read martin’s say. btw, xypre of reduced and recycled blog has also responded to fatimah’s letter very well.

    “houston, we have a problem!”

POSTED: Wednesday, 21/06/06, 2:00 AM   FILED: christian, silly |

sir, i am a worker in menara petronas, KLCC. today (20 may) i received a copy of the HERALD the catholic weekly dated 21 may which is circulated free, but on the weekly the price of RM1.00 is stated. the weekly has the KDN no. - PP 8460/12/2005, ISSN: 1394-3294.

what i found dissatisfied was that this weekly is being freely circulated. apart from english, there are sections for malay, chinese and tamil. what shocked me was that the article in bahasa melayu which used the name of allah freely. i am worried that the youth would be easily influenced by this propaganda.

together in the weekly of this issue was an article by marina mahathir. she wrote about muslim who would ‘riot’ if there are people trying to run-down islam e.g the book and film ‘da vinci code’ which question christianity.

that, my dears, is my half-past six translation (first 3 paragrahps only) of this article which appears in the harakah (PAS’s voicepiece).

    world cup prayer

POSTED: Saturday, 17/06/06, 1:46 AM   FILED: CnP, christian |

world cup logo.jpgoh well, you see this coming i suppose - i mean talking about the world cup. so many bloggers had tallked (and still is) about it already but i haven’t yet, so i must jump in the bandwagon… but huh? a prayer? whazzit? getting religious over ‘the greatest game on earth’?

well i was surprise myself too when i get hold of our latest catholic weekly, the herald, (18 june issue) and saw right on cover page a picture of a match between a germany player and a costa rica player and this world cup prayer. at least, this makes my world cup post unique - to post something entirely different from what others had posted… though of course it is a CnP job. it’s a christian prayer ok, so to those over zealous muslims like the mutant mullahs walski69 created or the ulama seri harussani, better don’t read/say it, lest it erodes your faith.

attributes one find in a lover

POSTED: Saturday, 17/06/06, 1:16 AM   FILED: fun, personal |

i have been tagged by the talk not like say blogger to do this meme - 8 attributes i seek in a lover. i don’t really like doing meme but since i’m a sporting person (ahem!) i’ll sure do it if i’m tag. anyway, as it’s the weekend… it’s good to stay away from serious post and present some frivalous stuff instead.

well i believe that to everyone, me included of course, there are sure more than 8 attributes they seek in a lover. however since this is an ‘8 attributes’ meme, so i present to you 8 attributes only.

    harmony

POSTED: Thursday, 15/06/06, 2:03 AM   FILED: religion, silly |

    interreligious.jpg

about a week ago, i attended an ‘interreligious harmony’ talk. during the coffee break, with a few participants when we got to talking, someone was wondering is interreligious harmony possible in our country? (picture taken from astro temple)

well, do you think it is possible if a religion think it is superior to all the other religions? do you think it is possible if a religion refuse to have dialogue with other religions (by coming together via a group/commission)? you tell me.

do you think it is possible if a religion think that if they celebrate with other religions, it might erode thier own faith? you tell me.
