Bibles’ caveat won’t help harmony

It is most regrettable that Christians in Malaysia – a plural society – have to stamp their Bahasa Malaysia Bibles with the caveat, ‘Not for Muslims’.

This kind of obscurantist anti-knowledge policy will only accentuate and sharpen the communal polarisation which is bedevilling our beloved country.

Were the leaders of the other faiths to petition the government to limit access to the Quran and other Islamic books only to the Muslims, would it gazette an appropriate order? The answer would surely be in the negative.

Which only shows that even after 47 seven years of independence, the leadership is not serious about communal harmony.

in the meantime, our ex PM had urged muslims to help non muslims.
“Why is it all right to receive contributions from non-Muslims but wrong to contribute to non-Muslims?” he asked, adding that Muslims should not hesitate to help non-Muslims.

well, we christians are always willing to help anybody, regardless of religion but yet at times when we help the muslims, the authorities tend to look to it as we trying to convert them! so apa macam ‘ni???
(er… actually the word i want to use is prosylet… something prostylising or whatever but i always can’t spell this word!).
