“PM: i hear you” – another slogan?

that is the big bold headline that appeared in the star paper of 30 nov. (yes i still buy the paper. no boycott. why? maybe i’ll do a post soon why so or you can read susan’s post at comments where i did mentioned why so.)

ok underneath that big heading, there was this smaller sub-heading "i’m aware of complaints and will deal with them, says pak lah." which appeared as heading for  the online version (and the rest of the news are the same of course).

"i hear you" says our PM. woo… is this going to be another one of his slogan? we already have ‘work with me’ and ‘tell me the truth’, and now he is telling us that he has big ears to hear our complaints… but one of  his henchman, the zam zam guy had said that his ‘tell me the truth’ was not meant for us, the public… so how is he suppose to hear our complaints then?

funny he said that he is listening, he is aware… but wasn’t it that so many bloggers had found out he is forever sleeping? how to listen when he is sleeping?

He said the country had gained tremendous ground in eradicating poverty, cutting it down from 50% in 1971 to 5.7% at present.

“This is not something to be scoffed at. We Malaysians have every reason to be proud of the achievement,” he said, adding that the Government would continue to help the people regardless of race.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that eradicating poverty would not be an easy task.

and why was he talking about eradicating poverty? oy, come on lah, mr PM, poverty will never ever be eradicated. it can be reduced, alleviated, mitigated but never eradicated. maybe his english is not good eh… at least for the first part when he mentioned "…tremendous ground in eradicating poverty…." it should be "…tremendous ground in reducing poverty…" what with the huge percentage jump he put forward.

In a multi-racial and multi-religious country like Malaysia, mutual respect and understanding among the races was essential, he pointed out.

tell that to your UMNOputra, particularly your son-in-law. mutual respect and sensitivity in our country seems to be a way traffic. one example, why did you have your UMNO general assembly during deepavali? where’s the respect? (and re: hindraf rally, to think they say indians are not being discriminated!).

finally, this takes the cake:

He described the New Economic Policy as an affirmative action policy that benefited all communities.

“Otherwise, this Government would not have been returned to power in each general election,” he said.

phew! i have no comments. er… i mean i have lots of comments… er… no… er… yes… er… er… i’m dumbstruck!

note: read aisehman’s post where he stated that what badawi need is big balls not big ears.
