anti-war or anti-israel?
Post on Jan.13, 2009
ok everybody now… sing it with me!
(to the tune of the children’s ‘are you sleeping’
double standard, double standard
here it comes, here it comes
what do you expect? what do you expect?
oh malaysia! oh malaysia!
just made a ‘double standard’ post yesterday and suddenly today the headline in the malaysian insider ‘it is ok to march against israel, not sri lanka, says syed hamid‘ greeted me.
oh man!! that’s sooo… oh soooo…. double standard sounding. good for ya, malaysian insider. why ok for one cause and not for another, oh botak syed hamid? you mean anything against israel is ok? oh please!! ain’t the protest a anti-war protest? not an anti israel protest!! so the protest is right to protest against any type of war or aggression or atrocities. why if one can scream hoarse asking israel to stop the attack, why can’t one do the same to palestine/hamas?
i find this very very irritating – our leaders shouting for israel to stop the attack – but why didn’t ask hamas to stop the attack too??? if israel stop the attack but hamas continue to fire rockets into israel, how on earth can israel stop the attacks??
the day our m’sian gov’t calls on palestine to stop the attack on israel, i’ll eat my socks with maggi tomatoo ketchup.
i notice that the anti war vigil in penang on saturday was very one sided too. i saw on some blog, they had a picture of a palestine baby who was injured. why didn’t they show one of the pictures of one of the children i had posted up here? or of children being dragged by hamas as human shield? be fair! if one to show the atrocities of one side, show the other side too! then only call it anti war!

The Malaysian Insider
It is ok to march against Israel, not Sri Lanka, says Syed Hamid
By Lee Wei Lian and Shannon Teoh
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 – Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar defended the arrests of leaders of the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) organised anti-war march last Saturday, pointing out that the Sri Lanka government attacks on the Tamil Tigers should not have been included in the protest.
"If you want to demonstrate in respect of the Palestinian cause, then don’t mix it up with the Sri Lanka cause," he said at the sidelines of the special parliamentary session on Gaza today.
"The PSM protests were more for Sri Lanka which is a different cause. We cannot have protests in support of separatists movements. They also used curse words against the police," he told The Malaysian Insider.
"They had many placards in support of separatists in Sri Lanka."
The Home Minister was commenting on why the police allowed a mammoth protest last Friday against Israel’s invasion of Gaza, but moved quickly to stop the PSM march.
His remarks are, however, inconsistent with that of the police who claimed that the PSM protesters did not have a permit for the rally, and refused to disperse, while those who protested on Friday had dispersed when asked to by police.
In an immediate response, Klang DAP lawmaker Charles Santiago, who was also among 21 people arrested on Saturday, asked: "Is that worse than burning flags?"
"What is the difference? They both want separate states."
He added that the government should exercise more restraint in the matter as "it was a peaceful demonstration against violence and agitation against innocent people across the world."
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today told Parliament that it was not proper for the police to arrest those who were "merely doing their duty."
"They were not against BN, Umno or the Prime Minister but Israeli violence," he said.
However, MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, in reply, expressed his shock that Lim was using the conflict as a way to compel people to demonstrate.
"Yes, we can have our own stand to give moral support to the Palestinians but not to use it as a platform for your own political purposes," he said.

Dear Lucia
Becareful with what your ampu-ing of Israel…you have no idea what you are dealing with. Be thankful that you are not a non-Jews living in Israel, but living in Malaysia.
For all you know, one day you may have to give an account of yourself before the Sanhedrin or the synagogue. Observe a little bit more the sign of the times and see what it says.
Just to share with you, in the past, on Good Friday, there was a prayer in the service that says, “Let us pray, for the perfidious Jews…” Now? You can check it out yourself the current wordings of the same prayer and compare yourself the difference. Before John Paul the second, no pope ever step inside a synagogue, ever since then, the Catholic Church is subservient to the rabbi so much so that a rabbi can dictate everything to the recent synod of bishops in Rome.
And one last thing, have you ever hear of the Talmud? Do you know the significant of the Talmud to the Jews? Since you surf the internet regularly you probably have some idea on how to find the right information and sieve through the good and the bad, just check out what does the Talmud has to say about Jesus, and Mary.
I am still discovering the hideousness of the perfidious Jews. In case you are wandering still, try this one: http://www.realjewnews.com or his name Nathanel Kapner. As you go along you will discover others. (But then again you will probably find there are many more who are more rabid than your favourite Islamist). There are many other Jews who are discovering their true identity in Jesus, one of the foremost you should know because he is in your bible, having written so many letters for your edification and salvation. See what he has to say about the Jews.
Take care and God bless

To begin with, the choice of “ampu” is not an elegant one for lack of a stronger vocabulary, therefore my apology.
And neither is my intention to make enmity with anyone, more like sharing concern with honest people and people of goodwill of the world we live in. As you well aware, having participate in the cyber world all this while, you meet all sorts of people, people whose words may or may not mirror their intention and most certainly would not reflect their physical self if you and me were to meet them in person. So the limitation of trying to express ourselves in words such as this.
Nevertheless, to me you are an honest person, seeking to build something lasting according to what you believe in and having experienced.
I would be most glad, should there be opporturnity to break any misunderstanding over my recent “mental jog” at your “house”. This, I believe can only be done when we come to know one another in certain friendship, more than the limit of this comment box, more than this restraining and restrictive cyberspace.
Again, (the formula), to share with you, I do not take things “seriously” about what I had commented previously, not because it has no truth, but because I only see partially of the reality of the information, limited by time, resource, and capability to pursue it further.
Just a quick one, you said that you are “merely” giving another side…the mainstream media and many bloggers…what you say is true as far as your perception of the level playing field is concerned. As far as mainstream media is concerned, I believe you are refering to the Malaysian context. Here, mainstream media also mean the US, the UK, the Canadian, the various European countries mainstream media. Follow it a little more. Washington Post, CNN, New York Times, are some of the big names to me. They have their reputation and prestige. I hope you share that impression of such media. Many quote on them. Go and check out their news and see how they report on the conflict. I am very ignorant too of the subtlety of mental conditioning by this entity and wouldn’t know how to differentiate the subtle half-truth and non-truth and whatever terms there are.
Malaysian media has their faults and you do what you have to do.
One site that I would recommend you is Rense.com that seek to journalistic integrity in its approach, and to help you along, something along Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today. It was targeted by the US government for censorship by denial of service and all its trick. Yes this happen in the US, the land of the free. In there, you will find a lot of posting from various sources. You can check it out yourself, don’t take my word for it. There are others that I do not know yet but it does not matter because in due time, it will reveal itself.
I hope we can one day exchange thoughts whether by email or physically share our care and concern about the world we live in and perhaps our spiritual growth. Oh…you will find a way to let me know of that ;-)
I am a Malaysian Catholic, Male, that was wondering about my faith and still do. But God is merciful. You know, one day when Jesus was in a very tense moment after a very heated discourse with the Jews authority, a lot of his followers left him. He then turn towards the twelve and asked them, “…and what about you?” Peter, the rash one, declare,”who else can we go, you have the message of eternal life.” Peter, speak on behalf of me too, one that I can take for my response, when one day, should that ever happen, my faith is put to test and I am asked, “What about you?” I share this because I ask myself would I leave Jesus when my faith is put to the test? I am but sinner before God and who know what I will do when that moment come. But God is merciful and in His mercy, He will guide us in declaring our faith of Jesus before men.
Again, take care and God bless.
