ORIGINAL POST
oh wow! i didn’t know that decades ago the uniform i wore to school (which is also the uniform at this present time) was consider sexy.
‘islamic group condemens ’sexy’ school uniform‘ so read the headline i saw in malaysiakini.
but wait…. there’s more silliness to follow….
An Islamc group today condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.
"The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction," National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.
"It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it," she said, calling for a review of uniform policy so that it did not violate Islamic ideals.
‘encourage rape and pre-martial sex’, ‘a source of attraction’, ‘becomes a distraction to men’. gee… a simple white blouse can cause that?
Munirah said that "covering up" according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills including "rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex which involve schoolgirls in their teens."
my dear munirah, it’s not the clothes, it’s the mind. there had been so many instances of women all covered up yet they get raped (like this one malay woman who was raped inside a bus long time ago).
"Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations," she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.
huh? you mean to tell me the girls don’t wear bra under the white blouse? was she referring to the normal school uniform or the baju kurung school uniform? for the former, it is hidden under the blue pinafore, thus the white blouse is not so visible.
‘decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations’- huh! HUH! HUH!!! what a laugh!!
laugh more here…
"This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them," Munirah said.
"This could see them getting molested, having pre-marital sex and all sorts of things."

Munirah Bahari wants the schoolgirls to be dressed like this…many will be willing to wear them during exams because they can hide tonnes of notes to copy

Rape is not about sex. Anybody can be subjected to rape - whether u are wearing revealing clothing or not!
Munirah Bahari’s from PKPIM should have done more research and have more readily available statistics rather than just forming her own shallow-minded warped opinions and mouthing off on national newspaper.

This is so stupid… They really got nothing else better to do… How decent they expect it to be? It is set by the government all this while and all of sudden they want to change it? Damn ridiculous..

Halo folks, hold your fire! No need to over react against an opinion-silly as it sound, of a single student group. Many students groups, many religious bodies, many muslims clubs, numeorus islamic associations haven’t spoken out to support Munirah’s view. Why do we need to jump everytime a disagreeable opinion come from a minor group like this? Responding to them only give more prominence -thus ENCOURAGING some groups out to seek attention to make even more `eye catching’ /outrageous pronouncements!
Hope we can devote such sensitivity to bigger issues like rampant police corruption, unconscienable judicial impartiality, politicians’ naked unaccountablity, obnoxious ISA, OSA, Police Act, PPPA, UUCA etc. How many folks here `jump’ at these issues?????

of course we bloggers jumped at this issue (or any other issue) and wish to blog on this - this is what blogging is for. an issue just popped up, we will blog about it at once… we don’t wait for others reaction before we blog - that would consider we are late in our blogging! this is how blogging works lah.
it’s not fair to say we do not devote our blogging time to other bigger issues. we did. we did blog about police corruption, the judiciary, yes esp. the judiciary eg. on the lingam tape issue, ISA, OSA and so on. we blog according to the news/issues that surface up - so when this issue about this ’sexy uniform’ came out, we blog on it - no harm doing that. then say tomorrow a big news about some VIP caught for corruption, we will also blog about it. and the next day if a group came up with some silly idea like all women who goes to work must wear dress not exposing their shoulders, we will also jumped and blog about it. that’s blogging life.

And this giggler got erection problems:
“Such problems happen because women cannot accept polygamy. From a preventive point of view, what about doing a big campaign so that women can accept polygamy?” he asked.
[ ]
Ahmad Zahid agreed, saying: “That man is a male chauvinist.” To this, Ibrahim giggled.
When Ibrahim said that it was allowed from the Islamic point of view, Zuraida hit back and said men must be held to blame, too.

Just because Munirah Bahari choses to be a masochist does not entitle her to prescribe the same insanity on other females, does it?

White and thin baju kurung does reveal the bra underneath it… and Munirah was just try to suggest the G to change the color and thickness of the Baju kurung.. and suggesed for requirements that singlets and tudung cover the bra ares… so what the fuss about…???
on rape…
Do you ever wonder why at Motor Shows, sexily dressed girls are placed next to the exhibited cars? why girls wearing sexy dress are at the HP booth during PCFair??? Why girls in sexy clothes are in the electronic gadgets advertisements?.. why a contestant in Donald Trump’s The Apprentice in one of the episode in one of its season ‘lost’ her skirt just to sell things so that her group will win… but actually was fired by Mr. Trump because of that…???? It’s because… SEX SELLS… and girls in sexy clothes attract boys…..
is there any research conducted on rapists in prisons that shows
1. sexy clothes is not one of the factors rapes cases happened?
2. or sexy clothes is one of the factors???
If there is no such research conducted.. then, we cannot claim either arguments… If there is…. than show it!!!… But all you did was just being rhetoric about this…. giving only theories without supporting details…

anak perelih
just briefly…
yes sure sex sells but girls in sexy clothes doesn’t mean can invite rape.
yes, there is a study about rapists. i have the book ‘the study of rape’ by the women’s centre for change, produced long time ago!

I think this topic is way out of context…
Does dressing arouse men?
yes
Is dressing the culprit of rape cases?
No
Rape cases are often girls/women creating opportunities
simple things like walking alone home
alone in a bus
routine path walking alone to work, or home
alone at home with a step father (maybe)
alone in the office always
walking to school alone thru’ jungles or lonely streets
taking rides from boys alone
all this kind of activities creates rape opportunities…it doesn’t matter what you wear.
Even a freak knows, he can’t do it in public or where there are people around.. it is not the dressing…but more to the fact that you are vulnerable in your situation like the above and that is the culprit that attracts rape cases.
Just my 2 cents
