An Open Letter to YM Sultan Azlan Shah
An Open Letter to YM Sultan Azlan Shah
Your Royal Highness,
Thank you very much for portraying the truth about the state of the country’s judiciary and your accompanying clarion call for major reforms in the judiciary during your opening address at the 14th Malaysian Law Conference recently.
You acknowledged with sadness that “there has been some disquiet about our judiciary over the past few years and in the more recent past…there have been even more disturbing events relating to the judiciary reported in the press”.

factions within the police force

whoa! after the lingam tape, here comes another kopi-tiam talk for all of us - an interesting revelation by commercial crime Investigation department (CCID) director ramli yusuff (picture, left, taken from malaysiakini) that he was the person being investigated for the RM27 million in undeclared assets. not only that of course… with that only, there’s no oomph in the revelation for an interesting kopi tiam talk. well to add the sambal to made it more oomph, he also alleged that CCID officers had been victimised by the police and there was mistreatment by the ACA. after his department took action against an alleged underworld kingpin.

he apologised??
wow! i am amazed! the bad-rude-in guy apologised! is this for real? apparently, it is. according to malaysiakini:
"I might have said something that could have offended certain parties during the argument with Karpal, and I would like to take this opportunity in the holy month of Syawal to say sorry to everyone," said Badruddin.
"At times, during the heat of an argument, we tend to say things that we don’t mean. I’m actually a very loving and courteous person."
ahem! *choke* ‘a very loving and courteous person’. *choke*

yo! you blogger! you no standard one!
ok ok, don’t shoot me please. this did not come from me but from the ‘bodoh’ defeated er… de facto law minister, nazri, during an interview by NST.
Q: Do you read blogs?
A: I don’t. I don’t waste my time. The few pieces that people print for me are just rubbish.
I’d rather spend my time to do things that are constructive; that go down directly to the people who are really in need of the help of the government.
Our bloggers are really not up to standard. When they put up something, it’s not something that they want to discuss in a very intellectual way.
It’s more because of their anger - the language they use. Why should I read all this rubbish?
When the standard of our bloggers is upgraded, then probably I will look at what is written.
But anyway, they are a minority. My concern is for the majority.
when he mentioned ‘minority’ the interviewer asked him what about the indians in our country, they are a minority too - they are not his concern too, he quickly stated that he meant only bloggers and again repeated that what we bloggers write are all rubbish.
hmm… i wonder how does he knows what we bloggers write are rubbish if he didn’t read them for a start. and remember he mentioned "it’s more because of their anger - the language they use". yes how does he knows the kind of language bloggers use unless he did read them? my guess is that he does read blogs and was bothered by what we wrote of him (and cant’ accept them), thus declared what we wrote as rubbish.
note: lawyer, malik imtiaz. had some very good points to refute what nazri said in the interview. part 2.

UMNO AGM on deepavali day
how insensitive of them… but then it ain’t a surprise at all since UMNO is the lord and king of the nation! UMNO rules the country, remember (not BN). whatever they do, could not be wrong… but what if, say MIC’s AGM is on hari raya, so asked a malaysiakini writer.
S Samy Vellu’s statement saying that Indian Malaysians are not offended by Umno’s move to hold its annual general assembly during Deepavali is not surprising. Indian Malaysians are a forgotten lot, not only in Umno circle but elsewhere as well.

irene fernandez wins libel suit
good news! CnP from malaysiakini:
Migrant-labour activist Irene Fernandez won her defamation suit against Malay-language daily Utusan Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today and was awarded RM200,000 in damages.
“I am of the opinion that the article was not a piece of responsible journalism,” justice Tee Ah Sing said in concluding a 104-page judgment that took close to two hours to read out.
The judge rejected the defence put forward by the defendants’ counsel, including that the article was written with justification, fair comment and qualified privilege.

bad, bad, rude, boy!!
… that is our ‘esteemed’ jerai MP from BN, bad-rud-din. believe it or not? no, not a small school boy, but a matured adult who is one of those who run our country. being rude and immatured, he doesn’t sounds like a man! thus my reference to him as boy instead.
he insulted the disabled persons! my penang friend, peter tan, who is in wheelchair, was angry! so much so that he wrote a letter to the editor of NST, which then was highlighted by jeff ooi. he wanted badruddin-in to retract his statement and apologised.

last call - petition to the agong
Petition to the Agong to be submitted on 25/10/2007
Posted by Haris Ibrahim October 23rd, 2007
Fairuz’s term as CJ ends on 31/10/2007.
He has requested an extension.
4,008 concerned citizens have signed a petition asking for the setting up of a Royal Commission to inquire into and investigate the veracity of what is depicted in the Lingam tape and, if confirmed to be true, to set into motion the necessary steps to remove Fairuz and to clean up the judiciary.
In these circumstances, in my view, Fairuz should properly have taken a leave of absence or have been suspended pending such an inquiry.

Coming soon - Internet code of ethics
by Yoges Palaniappan
Oct 22, 07 6:29pm
A code of ethics for Internet users, especially bloggers, is in the offing as the government moves to curb ’misuse’ of the medium.
Issuing yet another warning, Deputy Energy, Water and Communications Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor told the Dewan Rakyat: “The government’s leniency does not give Internet users freedom to misuse the facility to insult the country and its leaders.”
