RM120,000 gone in 3 months

UPDATED:  ok i managed to scan the picture of the bridge from the star hardcopy paper, and look, here it is! what a silly bridge eh!!

and that my dear, is part of your money, as good law-abiding tax payers. after this RM120,000 was gone, now they are going to spent RM200,000.

a concrete bridge in penang (picture) connecting rawang road to loroing kulit, built 3 months ago, by the drainage and irrigation department (DID), had to be demolished after it was deemed unsafe for public use.

Resident Abu Bakar Ismail, 47, said the demolished bridge was not user-friendly as it was too steep for motorcyclists and pedestrians.

“How do you expect the older folk to walk up a bridge with an almost 45 degrees gradient? Besides, the bridge is too narrow and only one motorcycle can pass through at one time,” he said.

yes, how silly can the DID get to be? 45 degreed gradient bridge? ridiculous! a picture of this bridge did appeared in the star hardcopy but i don’t see it appearing on the online version. what a pity. if not, i would have put it up and i’m sure you would be shocked to see such a bridge. in fact, i was. not even reading what abu bakar said about the bridge being 45 degreed gradient, just looking at the bridge alone, i was stumped! what kind of bridge is this, i wonder when the arch is so steep almost like a half-circle!!

sometimes i wonder did our authorities engaged their brains when they embarked on constructing things like bridge, roads, dividers.

look at this picture of a pavement next to sunshine square shopping complex (the market side).

originally the trees were there and we could walk on the pavement but after some time, the council built an enclosure round the trees (like you see in the picture) and the enclosure extend right to the end of the pavement on both sides. then… how on earth do we get to walk on the pavement? as you can see, on one side of the pavement is a drain and on the other side is the road where cars are parked. the trees were only a short distance apart. so if i were to walk on the pavement, after only a short distance when i encountered a tree, with the enclosure all the way up to both ends of the pavement, how do i get to pass? i can’t! i can’t because on one side of me is the drain and on the other side are cars parked on the road. so this means i can’t use the pavement! then whatever is the pavement for? i risk my lives to walk on the busy road (where vehicles from the main road of jalan mayang pasir will be turning in).

come on lah, a pavement is build for pedestrians to walk so that they don’t have to walk on the road… but these councillors just had to put up some enclosure round the trees that blocked our path to walk on the pavement! how ridiculous can it get to be!!
