be grateful! we have the cheapest toll rate!
Post on Dec.15, 2006
ok, so today the news of the toll hike had been made public in the mainstream media, like in sun2surf and the star. and again we hear all those silly poli gooblespeak from the minister, in this case the ayoyo sami guy. the one statement that i hate most whenever there is an increase in anything like petrol, water, electricity, even postage, is this statement (from sun2surf, the statement highlighted in bold):
“If someone wants some facility, he has to pay for it. The truth is Malaysia still has the cheapest toll rate in the region,” he boasted.
everytime without fail, we sill sure hear this – “we still have the cheapest rate (or one of the cheapest) in ____ “. don’t believe me? well do take note next time whenever there’s any increase in any facilities or utilities.
why the need to justify themselves? why the need to assure us that despite the hike, we still get it cheap? i can just imagine deep inside samy vellu’s mind, he’s saying:
“apa lu olang bising ‘ni, ha? ha?? lu olang guna motor pi sana, pi sini, pandu di jalanraya…. jalanraya yang kami gomen buat bagi lu. kami naik harga… lama lama tak naik, sekalang naik, pun harga sangat murah banding lain kawasan, jadi lu olang semua diam-diam lah!”
i don’t know about whether being the cheapest hold any truth as sorry i did not go and do some research but whether it is true or not true, i still feel, it’s not right of our ministers (or authorities) to use that statement.

Any chance we voice out our displeasure by not using the toll roads at all for certain period. say Monday to Friday only at the usual peak hours? We still have a choice right of using alternative road without tool.
???!!!
lucia: yes that would be a good idea – boycott the toll roads at certain time… certainly much bette than holding demonstration.
