porn surfers

when i saw this heading in sunday’s star paper, at first i was quite surprised, then i felt amused – ‘most porn surfers are from kota baru and kelantan’.

The most searched entries are “bogel” (nudity), “gambar bogel” (nude pictures), “seks Melayu” (sex involving Malays) and “cerita seks”

why? well not too long ago, we hear of this hoo-haa from the kota baru (in kelantan) municipal council ruling to fine women RM500 for indecent dressing, remember? so i was thinking… ah that’s why… those in kota baru cannot get a chance to see flesh here and there (i don’t mean nudity here) because women there need to cover up, so they turn to the internet to see flesh here and there! (i mean both – flesh and nudity).

NOTE: earlier some who came in early just get to see the heading without any text. actually that was not my intention. yesterday i did type something (more or less like above) and save it and intend to publish it in the wee early morn using my handphone. well i did manage to get online with my handphone, and i did click publish but then i didn’t know the text were missing! well now i had rectified this post (include the text).

say no.jpgtoday, in response to the report about the most number of porn surfers are from kota baru, the state youth committee chairman from kelantan, abdul patah, stated that the kelantan government is going all out to crackdown on porn from the net. yakah? possible?

State Youth Committee chairman Abdul Patah Mahmood said: “We have the will and we are very interested to discuss with both foreign and local software companies to make available – to all parents – filtering programmes that can disable children from accessing such sites.

eh? i thought this type of filtering programmes are already available?

Abdul Patah said the state government will also carry out an anti-smut campaign next year to weed out indecency and pornography in Kelantan.

ah… again that word ‘indecency’. indecency in what way? according to who? don’t tell me they pictures of women on the net with tight-fitting jeans and body hugging t-shirt are not allowed? well, that was what the KB municipal council mentioned as ‘indecent dressing’ of which the women will be fined.

The plan involves tie-ups with the mainstream mass media to come out with anti-smut advertisements and an integrated monitoring system involving schools, community leaders, parents, religious officers and Internet provider operators.

hmm…. i wonder how the anti-smut ads are going to work? ‘say no to pornography’ – and what pictures to go with it? surely not nude pictures or even women in sexy, revealing clothes? it would be interesting to see how the ads turned out (both on paper and TV).
