the most despicable & heinous crime

Mavis was reportedly punched, kicked and beaten with a rubber hose by the man who allegedly also rammed her head against a wall. The child was said to have drowned in a pail of water later.

mavis was only 3 years old. the man was at least over 20 years old – an adult.

what in the world made an adult tortured a 3 years old child, a child who is totally helpless and defendless?

when i first read about the news in the star paper on friday, i was totally shocked. i imagined a 3 years old girl being punched, kicked, beaten with a rubber hose and had her head rammed against the wall, and finally being drowned. then i weeped. tears filled my eyes. how could anyone did this to a 3 years old?

then i was mad. mad at the man who did this to mavis. i wished right then that the man would be punished the same way – punched, kicked, beaten with a rubber hose and rammed his head against the wall.

child abuse, to me is the most despicable and heinous crime in the world. imagine… an adult torturing a helpless child.

if i read about an adult torturing/beating an adult (e.g. the recent case of the man being canned by his boss, a car wash operator) i won’t feel pity or sad for the victim but if it is adult beating the child, i will feel pity at once for the child and get emotional.

this case of mavis was not the case of parents abusing the children but usually when child abuse is mentioned, people will think of parents (or the guardians/child-minders) abusing the children.

yes, child abuse is usually associated with one of the parent abusing her/his own child. torturing the defendless child. hurting the helpless child. their own children, for god’s sake. how could people do this to their own children? it’s such a despicable act!

take a look around the animal kingdom. do any of the animals abuse thier own offspring? NO! none at all. in fact you’ll notice that animals love their offspring… their own kind.. very much. then why on earth do human beings abuse their own kind? that’s why to me child abuse is a despicable, heinous crime, a crime that is unforgiving, that ought to be dealt with a very severe punishment.

so whenever you suspect a child had been abused, please do not take a “it’s none of my business” attitude. report to the police. a child does not deserve to be abused by an adult, no matter what the child did. there’s no justification for abusing a child. none whatsoever.

next time when you read about a child being abused – beaten with a stick, kicked and punched hard, burned with candles, slapped around like a rag doll, hurled against the wall, had boiling water pour over her – close your eyes and just imagine that scene of the child being abused thus. do it. then i guarantee you, if you don’t feel sad or emotional, you are not human.
