fat malaysians

fat.jpgok ok, me included. yes i am fat. i feel i am fat though my BMI (body mass index) says i am not overweight. well i suppose ‘fat’ and ‘overweight’ is different. i can be fat but not overweight but i cannot be overweight and thin – so it is correct to say i am fat though i am not overweight.

have you heard that malaysia has the most number of fat people in the asean region? a survey by malaysian shape of the nation found that out.

Malaysian Indians are the fattest at 63.4 per cent followed by Malays (53.5 per cent), Chinese (50.8 per cent) and others (45.2 per cent).

wah! is it because of the curry and hot and spicy stuffs the indians consume? but i love curry and hot stuffs too! oh no wonder i am fat. 🙂

according to dr. robaayah, the national coordinator of the survey, the reasons why malaysians are fat is because of the good life and unhealthy lifestyle.

Among these, she said, were eating too much, especially fast food and carbonated drinks; the preference for lifts and escalators to staircases; and little or no exercise.

totally agree! and i would add lazy drivers who complain about parking problem – when they can’t park near their destination, they don’t like to park a bit further away, as they said “aiya. so far to walk eh. don’t want lah”.

well malaysia is famous for its good food all around, so of course it’s no wonder malaysians are getting fat. hehehe. oh and penang, where i am, is the most well known for its good, delicious and cheap food – say the survey did not check which state has the most fat people?
