burn! burn! so said the chief.
Post on Aug.15, 2006
whoa!! the high and mighty UMNO youth had spoken – it’s okay to burn flags (israeli, british, USA).
behold! what the chief said:
“Burn as many flags as you (Youth members) want,â€
first he waved the kris around, and now he said it’s ok to burn flags. don’t forget… he is also the education minister.
“Umno Youth will create a tsunami wave of protest to force the mighty powers to bow to the demand for peace.”
demand for peace? but are they doing it in a peaceful, sensible way?
Hishammuddin said Umno Youth members had no option but to burn flags to reflect their anger, as other forms of protest fell on deaf ears.
then do you think burning a piece of cloth will get results?
“It is not in our culture to burn flags and effigies. But we understand now why some people are willing to die fighting after their lands are seized and families killed,†he added.Â
oic. i guess it becomes your culture when the countries are like israel, US and britian. if it’s countries are like iraq, afghanistan, i guess we won’t see you burning thier flags/effigies.
last week a friend of mine mentioned to me regarding the demo lead by the ‘hero’ son-in-law. they were calling for a ceasefire, for peace, right, she said… but then why was the hero (or maybe some other demonstrators) holding a placard that reads “crush israel!”?? were they really calling for peace if they want israel to be crushed? weren’t they advocating voilence instead? why all these talk of innocent victims of lebanese and the atrocies done by israel, when we also have innocent victims of israelis and atrocies done by hezbollah?

Burning flags make me want to fight. Lots of blood went into making me free and not even a thimble of it is mine.
lucia: yes, that’s how i felt too. it’s really terrible to burn flags of countries.

AAhh.. yes
Burn some paper effigies…and dont forget some incantations as well…so that boils will grow on the ass Bush and his evil compatriots…
But what i figure here is that Mr. Education is not to be out witted by the “hero who lost RM200,000″ by being in the papers…
i believe Mr. Education Minister is the most prominent to take over as PM in the near future. Now he is being challenged by the uprising “hero”….so he must do something before he gets politically upstaged!!
so now he must play his cards carefully..
Politically it is SOUND but on the logical aspect it is STUPID!!!
lucia: well most MPs like that – always coming up with stupid logic.

SA, it’s a shame that the bill in the US Congress to legislate against flag burning was defeated by just a few votes recently. Freedom of expression shouldn’t have included that freedom to be flagrantly without common ethics, methinks.
It is noted that M’sia daren’t mobilise its bully boys to burn Indon’s flag after the later burned the jalur gemilang over the incident of oil exploration over disputed oil exploration when two warships collided or was rammed by one. They sure know who to bully, knowing that Bush, e.g., wouldn’t send cruise missiles to hit KL for such an act as flag burning.
If there were no such thing as the West, Mr. Education would have found some alternative target to demonize – on the cheap. Characteristically, Arab type “heroes”, e.g. like Nasrallah are heroes only of an inverted culture that share little association with universal commonsense, lease of all, the way of peace.
It is being taken for granted that the matter of “sensitivities” is a one way street by way of Mr. Education’s syllabus for Bolehland. Fine education!
lucia: quote “the matter of sensitivities is a one way street.” good one. indeed. so right. they only care about a certain group/people’s sensitivities.

when I came across this kind of behavior, I used to grin since I understand the kind of conscience do these ppl have. I did have this kind of “kwoi lan” act once before. I burnt my Win Me license pack just because of frustration on Gate. If Gate knew, he must had have
me as “siau lan lang”!
lucia: indeed. that’s why i said their actions will only made them look stupid and let the whole world LOL at them.

Think about it this way…
Somewhere in the Whitehouse:
Asst: Mr President, UMNO Youth is burning flags in Malaysia!
Bush: So? We do it here as well…
Asst: No, Mr President, those are Chinese-made flags. They are helping the Chinese economy!
Bush: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! End the war in Lebanon, now!
Asst presses button, puppetmasters in Israel, puppets themselves, obey and withdraw not only from Lebanon, but from the entire Mideast. Proceeds to invade Kenya.
lucia: hey rajan, long time no see you around. how are you?Â
very funny comments from you. this reminds me of my ex-boss (who is the big bungalow’s owner) after her trip from england bought me a ‘marks and spencer’ purse. very beautiful and i feel very proud to have a purse from england but i suddenly saw the tag ‘made in china’. ayoh!

Clearly, “stupid logic” predominates when some ppl sucks up to the Middle Eastern culture of hubris – the so-appropriately named as ‘Shame Culture’. One which is rich in pridefullness but basically deficient in honesty, self-analysis and objectivity until all things universally meritorious get inverted.

q/ “For a typical shame culture the most important issue–indeed the issue that trumps truth or reality every time–is what people believe.” u/q
Belief that actually makes some ppl drop their own culture.
lucia: seems that when some people just want to defend thier ‘own kind’ stupid logic will always take over.

Burning a flag is tantamount to disrespecting the country and the people it represents. How is that different from terrorists??
lucia: nicely put. so what are those UMNO pemuda who like to burn flags??Â

The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) and the Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association said they would encourage thousands of members to join the boycott of the American products….
…..”We have nothing against the American people, we love American people. We are only protesting the foreign policies which have a double standard.”

I’m sure they’ll also claim the same for flag burning – taking a line from the American LLL. What about your own double standard? The Fat One says, Fat Chance that it will change.
