PART I – the misfortune
gosh! what bad luck i’m having these days. first it was the ‘eye accident’ and now another misfortune befall me… i lost my purse to a pick-pocket!
as many of you might have known, the pikom PC fair was held during the last weekend in penang. yesterday afternoon around 1.30pm i was there. it was so crowded. so many people and at most of the places i had to push my way through, squeeaing in between bodies! really really crowded!
well, i always carry a backpack with me. (the picture of the backpack can be seen at this post). again it was my carelessness not to realise that in a place filled with crowds of people, i shouldn’t have the backpack strap to my back. iddin’t realised that my purse had been picked until a girl informed me about it.
i was concentrating on some photo printers and speaking to the staff when a girl tapped me on the back and said “miss, that man just took your purse. he is dressed in blue. you had better go after him”, but how do i know which man? there were so many men wearing blue! and as i said the place was so crowded and cramped, i can’t even ‘chase’ after someone. the girl should have shouted or alerted me right at the time when she saw the man picked my purse from my backpack… not wait until the man walked away and got lost in the crowd.
anyway, i approached the organiser to inform them about it and one of them took me to the security room to report. i hope that someone found the purse and returned to the security. you see, i only have less than RM10 in the purse. thank god i do not keep large amount of money in my purse but in my pocket. but i have all my cards in the purse – mykad, driving license, debit card, a few atm cards. the security people there advised me to make a police report.
i did… and in the report i was only worried about the thief using my debit card (for shopping) and also my atm cards (if he knows how to crack the password), so when the police asked what i lost, i mentioned all the cards and silly me i completely forgot to mention my driving license! now i am wondering how do i go and make a new driving license. i only remember it after the report was done and mentioned to the police is it ok to prepare a new one but they didn’t want to, and they said that i don’t need a police report to make a new driving license (are they sure?).

Stay home more during this season ler and reduce the chances of more misfortune.
lucia: i’m no big boss. how can i stay home. ok lah i understand you means apart from going to work, stay home. well… when i had my fall, that was after work. going to work already means getting out of the house. never mind, whatever will happen, will happen. que sera sera.

Sad to hear about your misfortune. I guess however careful we are, things like this always happens. One way to be happy – just think that all your bad luck for the year went with it.
lucia: true, adam. sometimes things just happened, no matter what. hmm… my bad luck for the year went with it? i hope so, i hope so.
you know, today i went to have my IC made and was shocked to learn that i have to pay RM50!! i thought only RM10 but i was told this was my 2nd time report lost IC. huh? i said first time lah but the staff said first time was more than 10 years ago, now is 2nd time, hence RM50. not fair lah. it was not entirely my fault and i do have the police report that i lost the IC and yet i have to pay so much. adoi! pokai lah i. not forgetting have to pay for my driving license again.Â

Pickpockets must love back pockets(like backpack) and side pockets as on ready-made gents slacks which is soo shallow. Dumb idea but nobody seem to notice much. Unhelpful fashion.
Not fashionable but if you have pockets up front where you put your wallet like with jeans, you’re much safer always.
lucia: yeah. that’s why i like to put my money in my front jeans/pants pocket.Â
