argh! another price hike!
after the bus, taxi and ferry price hike, now comes petrol!
petrol up 10cents, diesel up 20cents by today! today – 05/05/05!
and this was announced yesterday quite late… around 8.00pm i think. no wonder yesterday around 10.30pm when i was returning home, i saw long queues at petrol station. at that time i was not aware yet of the hike. it was after i got home and log on the internet that found out about the hike.
“The price of petrol RON97 in Peninsula Malaysia would increase by 10 sen to RM1.52 per litre, petrol RON92 toRM1.48 and diesel to be increased by 20 sen to 108.1 sen from 88.1 sen.”
RON97? RON92? how to tell which kind of petrol the petrol station are selling? how many types are there?
i always feed my chaly with petrol worth RM2.00. since chaly is a small bike, the petrol tank is small, thus can hold only RM2.00. actually it can hold RM3.00 worth but the tank has to be near empty before RM3.00 worth of petrol can go in. of course i dare not wait till my petrol is near empty, so i fill it up base on my estimation for RM2.00 worth. usually it is about 10 days that my chaly need petrol. well i don’t travel long distance or much with chaly.
hmm… it seems that all along i buy RM2.00 for petrol for my chaly. and even after a few times price hike, i still buy RM2.00. silly me didn’t think that if price increase and yet i always buy RM2.00 means i will be getting less litre of petrol. no wonder i wonder how come nowadays my chaly ‘drinks’ the petrol so fast. hmm… perhaps next time i should buy RM2.50 worth.
back to the news of the petrol/diesel hike. i hate it when the govt. on raising the price, like to made comparision:
“Despite the increase, the price of petrol in Malaysia would still be the cheapest in Asean, except Brunei, while for diesel, it would be the lowest except when compared with Indonesia and Brunei.”
and they justify the hike by saying it is necessary so as to save them from incurring loss of RM16.8 billion! and also that:
“The hike in the retail price would narrow the gap between the market price and the subsidy price, and eventually could lead to reduction in abuse and smuggling activities.”
is that so? how sure are they that after the gap between market price and subsidy, abuse and smuggling would reduced?
one thing sure is that the public will make noise against this hike. typical. hey, i’m one of them. 🙂 i have to dig deeper into my purse now to feed chaly. 🙁
