gilaman of the year (malaysia)

the award goes to… drum roll…. ta… daamm!

(note:  SAMP – suara anak-anak mamak pulau pinang, NGO he started, and is the president. the acronymn is SAMP but i added in 'ah' to it, to make it SAMPAH, which is rubbish in malay, because basically that's what they are.)

yes, this gilaman (crazy man) is none other than penang's famous protester, abdul ghani keranda (full name – mohamed ghani abdul jiman).

it looks like he's not only the gilaman of penang in 2011 but in previous years too and i suppose in the coming years. why is he gila? he talked nonsense! he protest against issues that are suppose to be non issues! mostly because of the 'gifts' that he brought to the penang government. first there was this coffin (keranda) he bought for the komtar ADUN; that's why now he's known as 'ghani keranda'.

then of course, we cannot forget the latest… when he bought birtday cakes  for penang's CM, (dec) lim guan eng. four  cakes in the shape of poop and a big black cake in the shape of the number 4. 

he has nothing better to do and always wanted to be busybody… or simply just want to kacau the penang government, like when he protested against the 'my balik pulau' booklet (feb) controversy, then he had to protest against the support of bersih  press conference (june), followed by the protest on the street against the support of bersih! (this was also the time when the protesters went onto the penang bridge).  oh and not forgetting with the seksuality merdeka  (nov) issue coming in, he had to protest too! also in nov. he just had to lead a protest against komtar's ADUN (ng wei aik… apart from lim guan eng, he seemed to like to target ng wei aik too)…. what was it for? just because he heard ng was humiliating a bangladeshi (heard mind you, not confirmed). 

of course i'm not saying he shouldn't protest but what i'm saying is that he just wanted to made noises and create trouble and hence protest on almost anything against the penang government. also i'm giving him the gilaman award, apart from because of his gifts, it is also because of what he said during the protests.

for example at one protest, he called the PR leaders 'pondan' and asked them to wear skirts to the assembly.  at the protest against the bersih conference, he shot at the highly admired, drr toh kin woon "you are an old man, about to die."  and in may, when he protested in front of the state assembly building, he called the PR government pondan and even use foul words like konek. that wast the time when he attempted to climb over the gate of the building!! so gila!! and i can't forget the time (that was in 2010) when he wanted to have a fist fight with lim guan eng or ng wei aik. he even said he didn't mind what kind of fight, be it tomoi, boxing or wrestling. real gila!

ok lah i don't want to talk about him anymore, 'else i'll go gila too. so fed of him. just wish that he will disappear from penang! OTOH, maybe not, wish he will be in penang forever and ever and, together with SAMPah friends, stages all his 'gilaness' protest, so that we, penangites will all the more vote for PR!!
