hokkien podcast
yesterday when i browse through the penang bloggers portal, a certain phrase ‘penang hokkien….’ caught my attention. clicking on it, i learned that it is a site dedicated for podcast, simply known as penang hokkien podcast. and what’s even more surprising is that the name of the owner – john ong! the name ring a bell in me and i suddenly realised i know him. it was i think about 2 years ago when i was active in a forum known as ‘penangtalk’ that i get to know him. later when i left penangtalk and started my own ‘penang4u’, john, signed up as a member. btw, to sidetrack. my penang4u is dead now but there’s plan to ‘resurrect’ it maybe via a blog. more about that later.
now coming back to john’s site. this is how he describe his site:
“The very first podcast entirely in Penang style Hokkien. No topic restrictions. Suitable for adult listeners.”
john is a penangite. had his education (kindergarten, primary, secondary) in penang. only left malaysia for college in US and is now living and working in US.
i had listened to his ‘haze’ and ‘tsunami’ podcast. clear and crisp. he and his friends featured in the podcast are humourous too.
for those of you who are penang hokkien, especially penangite who are no longer living in penang, and miss penang’s hokkien, don’t forget to visit john’s site, ok, and enjoy listening to the podcast.
