the media needs the freedom!
what a silly move by parliament to restrict journalists from entering the lobby! good to see the immediate respond from the journalists and camera-men, in staging a boycott, so report malaysiakini. (picture here taken from malaysiakini).
one of the reason they gave in restricting their moves was ‘for security reasons’. so silly! lim guan eng had this to say:
"No MP has ever suffered personal injury or threats from reporters accredited to cover the Parliament," he said.
"By imposing such restrictions merely for the personal comfort and conveniences of certain individuals would contravene the basic spirit of democracy and respect the sanctity of Parliament where reporters can carry out their duties to communicate debate on policy in an accurate and professional manner," he added.
notice the "for the personal comfort and conveniences of certain individuals "? hmm… i wonder what is he hinting at. individuals like the top 2 – the PM and DPM? especially at this time of the bombshell from RPK?
anyway, in an immediate response to this issue, my fellow ‘colleague’ of benar had written a memo to zaid, asking why aren’t his colleagues pulling along with the journalist (in reference to his speech during the walk). please visit the blog to read. oh and while doing so, after reading, please do not forget to sign the memo for media freedom, ok? all the more you should do it NOW! some ministers had started restricting the freedom of journalists, so we must push for the freedom of journalists!
