no national unity without malay unity

that was what a future king told us. (picture)

i first read about this in aisehman’s blog. CnP from aisehman’s blog:

Read this in Malaysiakini – Tengku Faris: Non-Malays should not seek equality:

Kelantan Crown Prince Tengku Faris Petra said today that Malays had been coerced into giving non-Malays citizenship and the latter should therefore not seek equality or special treatment.

He said this during his keynote speech at a forum titled “Malay unity is the core of national unity” organised by the newly formed Barisan Bertindak Perpaduan Melayu in Kuala Lumpur today.

As a Malay, I apologise to all non-Malays that there are among my fellow Malays those who hold such views.

It is disgusting, even if these people have a right to their opinions, and a right to express them.

But don’t worry. Come the next elections, we shall make sure that those who hold similar views will not even come close to forming the federal government.

That’s the only lesson they can understand.

this is my comments at his blog:

thanks aisehman.

as a non malay i’m sad to hear this.

“malays coerced into giving non malays citizenship.”
coerced? that is a very strong word. we non malays don’t need anyone to give us citizenship. if we are born here (i was!), means we are malaysians already, thus automatically we have malaysian citizenship.

“malay unity is the core of national unity.”
this sounds like ketuanan melayu at work, which a number of my malay friends are against too. malek hussein, MAFREL chairman (also the RM3 bil ISA man) had said he didn’t want ketuanan melayu but what he wants is keadilan melayu.

i can understand and don’t mind the special privileges of the malays e.g. post of PM must be malays, malay language as official language and islam as official religion and even NEP – FOR THE POOR MALAYS but i feel that the malays should NOT treat us as 2nd class citizens, should not lord themsevles over us non malays (malay supremacy – the ketuanan melayu, see). yes aisheman you use the word ‘disgusting’. it is indeed disgusting to think that there are people who think they are high above other people.

i think i am going to rant about this in my blog tomorow. so sad. 50 years and we still have malays with this kind of thinking. *mad*

after reading the other comments not only in aisehman’s but in maverick and ktemoc, i would like to change my last sentence to:

50 years and we still have umnoputera with this kind of thinking.

btw, i stop short of putting the heading as ‘the crown prince is a racist’ because i know that will get me into deep shit as there will bound to be some people who jumped up and accused me of being biadap to the loyalty. anyway this could not be exactly what comes out from his mouth. i hope not! i hope some of the commenters were right that the speech was prepared by some umno ultras. oh and as this is a sensitive issue,  i hope  to see intelligent, rational, matured commenters here, like aisehman, not racist commenters like one anonymous commenter with a vulgar handle who keep saying stuffs like "you orang tiong san, balik cina!".

we are all anak bangsa malaysia! we ALL unite to form national unity!
