election watch – calling volunteers as observers
from the workshop that i attended (report here part 1 and here part 2), MAFREL had listed out 7 constituencies in penang that need monitoring.
1. P43 – bagan
2. P44- permatang pauh
3. P45 – bukit mertajam
4. P46 – batu kawan
5. P49 – tanjung
6. P50 – jelutong
7. P52 – bukit gelugor
as you can see, the first 5 are at the mainland while the last 3 on the island. volunteers can choose which constituency they would like to monitor/watch over.
what are you suppose to do? well, fret not, there will be a training/briefing session for you so that you’ll know what to do. basically of course it is for you to monitor that the election is carried out in a free and fair manner.
your official designation will be known as ‘election observer’ and there are long time observer and short term observer. long time observer covers not only the polling day but before polling like nominations day, campaigning and so on. more volunteers are required for the short term observers – covering the hundreds of stations during polling day. you can read a little about the briefing session from ong’s post here (last paragraph).
ok so i heard many of you complaining many times about our election being not fair. are you just going to sit and complain and grumble? do something about it! volunteer your service as MAFREL election observer. it is your duty to see that election is free and fair.
if you are interested to volunteer as an observer and willing to attend the briefing session, you can either contact ong or me at lucial at gmail dot com. the tentative date for the briefing in penang will be on 20 feb.
TOGETHER, LET’S WORK TO ENSURE A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION!
