hot! (or not?) video clips from JAIS

JAIS – jabatan agama islam selangor (selangor islamic affaris department).

these moral police from JAIS not only spy on couples to catch them for khalwat (close proximity) but they also filmed what they spied… and now thanks to the popular youtube, we will all get to see some of the clips.

more later as now am busy. just got hold of the news from jeff ooi and knowing that it will be a hot topic, quicky post it up here in summary first. oh yeah, the ever quick howsy had also started blogging on it already. me, always many steps behind howsy, so i’ll talk about it only later.

we first got to know of these video clips via mstar online, the bahasa version.

a JAIS officer when contacted by mystar, admitted that yes, they do video taped some couples in action when they were on their raid as they need the clips as evidence in the court. however, he was not sure that these clips uploaded to the popular youtube was done by his men or not. he was heard to say:

Kami belum dapat sahkan atau nafikan kerana kami pun belum tengok lagi video-video ini dan saya rasa mungkin bukan datang daripada JAIS dan kita pun belum pernah dapat maklumat mengenai video sebegini.

(we have not confirmed yet nor deny this as we have not seen the videos yet and i feel that most probably they were not from JAIS, and we also have not received information regarding these video)

if not from JAIS, then from who? who turned into a voyuer to film those scenes and to upload them for all to see? didn’t we hear background voices of “sudah kahwin?” (married?). who else but the moral police from JAIS will ask that?

ok. one issue we have here is whoever uploaded these clips to youtube was wrong to do so as the privacy of these people on the clips had been invaded.

another issue is… do the JAIS officers really need to film the couples in action on their rounds? was filming them without their knowledge already consider invading their privacy? wait a minute… some people will say in the first case, when the moral police pounced on them (with or without filming!) is already consider invading their privacy. this is of course the view of those who are against the idea of the JAIS officials going on their rounds spying for khalwat couples whether they are married or not married, of course on the other hand, we have this ‘religious’ matter. khalwat is wrong in islam.so they need those ‘mata-mata’ to catch the khalwat couples. ahh… so it is an islam matter. then i had better keep my mouth shut because i can just hear someone breathing on me “you are not a muslim, you have no right to talk about matters pertaining to islam”.
(heh. i gotta go anyway as it is now past 0300 hours!)

I would say on the issue of JAIS spying is wrong in islam, islam abhor bad behaviour but do not simply enforcing things. In this particular case one hadis in bukhari and muslim where , a non muslim( jew ) approached the prophet s.a.w , he says that I commited adultery, the prophet move his face away , the man told the same thing second time , same reaction , then at the third time the prophet s.a.w said, do you know what is the punishment for adultery, the man said yes, the prophet s.a.w mention again do you know that the punishment is harsh, the man said yes, then he asked for the man to be stoned to death, the man ran away and finally they caught him and continued until he died”

from the narration above clearly the prophet is against fault finding, like what is the malaysian islamic organisation is doing. In the case of the prophet time, there is no people going around to catch this people doing khalwat etc. How they manage the social problem is through lead by examples and strength of akidah ( faith ). The problem arises when malaysian people adopt custom and religion together . The effect is, the younger generation is confused, like me before, when the people who studied quran and hadith explained then the shadow of doubt is cleared.

My ten cent on this is, the authority should go back read the quran and genuine hadith then if confused consult people who knows more. Currently what the local islamic council practice give bad image to the non muslim and bad precedent for the younger generation. Islam is a beautiful religion the people who inherit islam usually do not really understand fully the beauty of islam because of lazyness, wrong info or ego etc then they deviated , i am sad of what has transpired currently, fone good examples malay predessor always said you must find a guru( teacher ) to read the translation of quran and hadith. When i read both, there is no such law in islam, only what the pious predecessor did was read and what practiced if confused then asked the person who knows better. Thus trus islam teaching is gone.

Those malay muslim i beg thee read the translation until we ceased to exist, to the non muslim please do not mix malaysian cultured islam with tru islam from the quran and hadith, i beg thee all.

What makes JAIS think that their complaint to YouTube(owned now by Google) or Yahoo will make any difference wrt their policies? Particularly when the videos don’t contain any explicit hard core scene. Does it imagine itself to have the influence with them as countries like Saudi Arabia and China because of their economic clout?
