mob mentality again (2)
follow up to the post about the mob that gathers at the silibin, ipoh church, i read from bob’s blog that the other sms mentioned that azhar was going to baptise some 600 students of ungku polytechnic school in ipoh.
kind of funny if you see it this way… how can a lay person (i.e. someone who is not a religious) baptise people? only a priest can baptise people!
the spokeperson for the diocese of penang, fr. fabian dicom, as mentioned in the star paper, is my office (job) director, and when he was in the office yesterday, he had some interesting points to share.
he was there almost the whole day and he said the whole day the police were there to see that there were no ‘untoward incidents’ happens… but even still towards the evening (or was it night), there were several mat rempits circling the church and shouting “allah akhbar!” and get this… they were throwing stones at people who happen to pass by the church (or entering) and according to fr. fabian, one lady was hurt.
this is really terrible, isn’t it, terrible. i don’t know if these mat rempits were ‘hired’ by someone/some groups or not.
our DPM had come out to say ‘nail the sms culprits!‘… just like the perak CPO. i am however puzzled why he (or the perak CPO) did not mentioned the action of the 300 or so people, consisting of opposition parties and NGOs who gathered at the church in protest… protest of what? a false sms? why were they so quick to believe the sms? why didn’t DPM or police reprimand them? why can’t the leaders of the parties and NGO seek clarification from the church authorities… a few leaders, say 10 or so, walked into the church to clarify the matters, instead of them gathering their people in large groups to demonstrate outside the church. . which as fr. fabian puts it:
.. noted that the incident had also infringed on the church members’ right to worship ..
and also add:
the Catholic Church has always believed that dialogue is the best platform to resolve issues and as such is extremely disappointed that there was no attempt whatsoever for dialogue
yes, because of their mob mentality. they can’t think straight/logically; they only know how to make noises, intimidating people. oh ya, not forgetting keep the police busy.
