disneyland in bolehland – mana boleh!

few days ago there was this news of a possible disneyland in johor, and yesterday’s star reported that our PM had met a group which had expressed interest in setting up the disneyland theme park.

then mohd effendi, the minister in the prime minister’s department had said that they are talking to tokyo disneyland and US disneyland to see which one is the more realisiable option for them.

Johor Tourism Malaysia director Ahmad Esa said Disneyland was an international brand with a solid record as a crowd puller.

“To have something of that magnitude is great. It will definitely pull tourists here,” he added.

really? wouldn’t tourists prefer the orginal – US disneyland? and why concentrate on theme park? why not capitalise on eco tourism or something that is original to us (esp. nature) instead of apeing the west? and why waste money on such a ‘magnitude’ project?

i don’t know but to me the idea of disneyland is just not feasible. think of how much money need to be spend on it. think of the costumes that the characters require to wear… our country is a hot humid country, how to tahan under those heavy costumes? most of all… think… why should tourists be interested in disneyland bolehland when they can go to disneyland US? tourists wants to come to our country for something different… something they couldn’t find in US or tokyo. tourism is not all about theme parks.

haha. walt disney co. in the US had said that they have no plans at all to bring disneyland to bolehland. good. good. so glad to hear that. another thing, this effendi had said they had been having talk with disney in US but disney in US denied that. apa macam eh, effendi? well, he did a gostan balik gear and now denied saying that the government was planning bringing disneyland into bolehland. haha. that’s how our minister talk for you. maybe he was red-faced after disney US spoke up and said they don’t intend to bring disneyland into bolehland, so he did a backtrack.

meanwhile, UEM world bhd, the company responsible for bringing in theme parks, still insists on bringing in disneyland despite disney US saying they are not interested. tak malu punya.
