we are not matured enough
Post on Apr.28, 2006

oy! this ‘info man’ here is so very smart eh… with the thinking same as those in the west and europe, while those behind him (the flag waving rakyat) are all not as matured in thinking as those in the west and europe. (picture taken from sun2surf)
=========
i just don’t understand our menteri-menteri. like this zam zam guy for example, the info menteri. now, he’s saying our thinking are not as matured as those in the west. much ealier didn’t he (or some other menteri) said we shouldn’t apt the west? and we have so many of them always talking about ‘asian values’, priding in themselves that our values are better than the west.
this zam guy here in giving an excuse on why opposition’s speeches in parliament were not quoted on tv, tells us that we have yet to reach the level of maturity as those in the west and europe. since we have a childish mind, we are always thinking along racial line, he said. thus, we are not ready to listen to the opposition’s voices?
what a weird reason for not wanting to air the opposition’s view!
is this also the reason they do not allow the other religions (except the country’s official religion) to have a say on the tv or radio? we are not matured enough, see. if we listen to an hour’s talk of religion A, though we are from religion B, we will suddenly decided to join religion A…. that’s what this zam guy think.
again, the gomen is doing the thinking for us. again, they are deciding for us. again, only they know what’s best for us.
coming back to what zam said, not necessary to air live proceedings of parliament as bits and pieces are air during news or at ‘parlimen hari ini’, that is adequate already, why do you think the gomen does not allow parliament proceedings to be air live? it is so simple – parliament is like a circus. we have the menteri-menteri behaving like kids at times, and behaving like hooligans at times. lately we had a menteri cursing “go to hell”, and just 2 days ago, we found one remarking that divorced ladies who are single again, are gatal (horny). these, and of course many more other instances are testimony to the fact what a farce parliament proceedings were/is! yep, perhaps the gomen knows that (hey, they are wise you know, not childish like us rakyat), that’s why no live broadcast of parliament proceedings.

We are not matured enough to find an alternative to the Zam brand of snake oil cure-all. Truly we are in at the same level of maturity as Europeans and the West cos the opposite sex can’t hold hands in public. And we also need moral police who can prevent newly born babies from mysteriously appearing in trash bins!
But who are the “we”, actually? Ditto for the regular hooligans in Parliament?
lucia: yep. they (people like zam) when they remarked “we are not….” it points back at them.Â

Correction ” Truly we aren’t….”

Well, thats the thing. We expect that once we put these people in power that they do all the work for us. Then when things go wrong, we blame them. Kinda flawed a bit when you come to think of it. Representatives of the people means that the higher ups are the ones reflecting the mentality of the people.
Doesn’t put that much faith in where the rest of the people stand now does it?
At the end of it, where we stand reflects where the higher ups stand. When the majority of the people is just as clueless. Then you got a big big problem.
lucia: “representatives of the people means that the higher ups are the ones reflecting the mentality of the people”
you hit the nail on the head, edrei.

can’t expect much can we when all our education system does is emphasize on rote memorizing and fact swallowing and nothing to develop critical (or as the minister says, matured) thinking?

our politicians wasted time on mundane things.
They should publicise the agendas for each parlimentary debate. But if they do this, then they would become puppet.
I think Malaysia is already at its best form, in year year out, we are just depending on the natural resources.
To move one step further, we need a miracle.
lucia: a miracle? then we’ll have to wait till kingdom come.

Life broadcast would to clearly show what a circus parliament is.
It also would show how opposition is surpressed in this country.
Malaysian are mature enough, its their leaders who are immature, because they cant handle critics.
You critisize them they start screaming and shouting insults, now thats mature isn’t it….
lucia: how true. it is said that how a person handles criticism will show her/his characteristics.Â

I agree with Albert, as I have the same suspicion that the real reason is that the voting public will see for themselves what a bunch of retards some of these elected officials can be in Parliament.
I’m basing this comment not so much on conjecture, but having read a few Hansard records for myself.
ZAM however puts the onus on the “Racist Malaysian” as being not mature enough. On the contrary, it’s the racist and sexist elected members of Parliament that he’s protecting really – many of them from BN.
On the flip side, what ZAM doesn’t seem to realize is that perhaps, putting our wakil rakyat in the spotlight will make them realize that as elected representatives they need to behave like adults, and more importantly discuss issues INTELLIGENTLY. And not like at the teh tarik stall.
But then again, that may be a tall order for many of our elected ones, since IQ doesn’t seem to be an important criteria to enter politics…
lucia: haha. that (the last sentence) is a good one, asylum.

Well first, if I say we are not mature enough, maybe it’s true because we keep voting in these immature people to represent us. But then it’s the immature people who sellect these immature people for us to vote and so we don’t have any choice, because we tend to vote mostly for the party rather than the individuals, even if those representing the party are monkeys. So, who’s immature here???
lucia: it starts with the leaders.

LC_Teh, I should add, immature and SELFISH via the promotion of Majoritism.followed by Judas sell-offishness. The AI affair was the first shock but definitely not enough for most to see the light. His proponrnts were also similarly immature to think he’s an(even as the) alternative. True imatureness in this area and the return to the same vomit is quite certain.
