the corus hotel in PD

(first picture of the corus hotel, taken from southtravels)
this picture of the corus hotel is taken from the back view actually. yes, the lagoon (U shaped) is situated at the back, where the beach is. actually the lagoon is part of the beach. later on, i will show you a close up of the lagoon, from the pictures i took.

so i was at PD for 2 nights, 3 days for our society’s ‘study day’. there were 42 of us from penang. altogether there were 180 participants, from all over malaysia, incluidng sarawak. penang had the most number of participants!

the bus we took left penang at 8.00am and it took the bus 9 1/2 hrs to reach PD! the first programme, i.e. icebreakers was to start at 4.30pm… and we arrived at 5.30pm. many of us were disappointed for arriving late, especially me, since i was in charge of the icebreakers games. well, the icebreaker games had to be scrapped… but later on, we did had it but at that time few people stayed back (all tired after journey, wanna go zzzzz!) picture here shows our banner hanging at the entrance of the hotel. the next picture shows the fountain which is located right in front of the main entrance. the main entrance is at the 5th floor of the hotel. er… strange eh… well the layout of the hotel looks strange. 2nd floor is the restaurant, which is also where the swimming pool and the lagoon/beach are located.

the hotel is huge and looks mighty impressive with many grand staircases. here in this picture below, you see one of the grand staircase. i think this is in 3rd floor, the reception area.

on the first day (18 nov. friday), we had only one programme, i.e. a talk by bishop dominic su from sarawak. this was followed by the icebreaker games. many left after the talk and there were only about 50 participants joining in the games. what a disappointment for me! i had prepared the games with 200 people in mind! never mind, at least those who participated did enjoy the games.

after the game, my sister, a friend and i ‘tour’ the hotel. since it was night time, i did not want to snap pictures.

the room was pretty comfortable – 4 of us in a room. oops. i forgot to take a picture of the room. there were two king-sized beds – more than enough for two!

on the second day, the whole day, the talk was facilitated by a jesuit priest, fr. jojo fung, the young priest with long hair. his hair is longer than mine! (over the shoulder). he was an interesting speaker and there was never a dull moment with him.

oohh. it was also on saturday that we had a lot to eat – all the 5 meals, you know lah… and within short hours. e.g. breakfast at 8.00am, tea at 10.30am, lunch at 12.30pm. saturday dinner was suppose to be a barbeque by the lagoon (garden terrace) but since it was raining, we had to have it inside the hotel – the usual dining place where we had our lunch/dinner. we were entertained by some singers on that night! the hotel’s resident singer at the lounge – 3 young sexy ladies sang for us for an hour. later on a group of 4 men took over.

this next picture here shows a close up of the lagoon. we went there on our last day when we had some free time before our bus arrived.
i enjoyed myself at the ‘study day’ as though the title suggest study day, it was not really a study day as the programme were very light all the way.

i took many other pictures but not going to post them up here of course. as usual, will put them up on my online album.
