a diferent kind of fear

i’m sure many of you like to watch the reality show ‘fear factor’ on tv, right? well, but not me. it’s a stupid and disgusting show in my opinion. imagine… watching people eating live wriggly worms or watching people hanging precariously on a pole high a top a bulding or whatever silly stunts they are up to.

well, whaddya know… malaysia has been picked to host ‘fear factor’ the asian version. should we feel proud?

with the events that had been going on lately in blogosphere, i would like to point out a different kind of fear factor.

“We cannot continue to be a society gagged by the thought that what we have
to say might upset someone in power.”

“I believe that politicians have created this fear in our society. Fear, of what might happen to you if you voice dissent. Fear, of what they will do to you if you point out the corruption that blights our society. Fear, of racial violence and chaos if you do not return them to power.”

this is an excerpt taken from the blog of joe-blog (aka the late johan ismail). many of you old timer bloggers and readers would have know joe and fell in love with his blog. the best blogger i ever came across. pity his blog had not been archived and had been taken off. there were very good writings there. last year during joe’s 1st anniversary, lone had started a blog specially for joe’s writings but it doesn’t seems to take off well. only he and i were the contributors and we had stop posting anyway, but the blog is still there.

i had put up only one of joe’s post on that blog, and it is this post with subject ‘culture of fear‘. the excerpt i gave above was taken from ‘culture of fear‘. i urged you to click on the link and go read it. it was very well written indeed.
