saya fikir bahawa ramai dari kalangan kamu tahu bahawa lagu itu adalah lagu allahyarham sudirman haji arshad.

masa dulu, saya tidak minat dengar lagu melayu… melainkan lagu dari kedua penyanyi-penyanyi yang saya paling sukai - allahyarham sudirman haji arshad dan allahyarham p. ramlee.

oh ya, hari ini adalah kali pertama saya akan membelog dalam bahasa kebangsaan kita, bahasa malaysia (BM). telah lama saya tidak gunakan BM untuk menulis, jadi tentunya BM saya tidak beberapa baik. kalau ada apa-apa kesilapan, tolong tunjukkan dan bukan ketawakan, ya?

selalunya bila hari merdeka menjelang, apa yang pertama saya fikirkan? oh ya, hari cuti. haha. ok lah, hari merdeka juga membawa kenangan bagaimana saya sangat bertuah dapat tinggal di negara ini yang penuh aman dan damai, dan berbilang kaum.

It is close to Merdeka. Patriotic songs permeate the air. Snippets of the past on our TV screens pull at our heartstrings. Touching and tear-jerking advertisements are played over and again. Of course the unspoken prime preoccupation of many Malaysians is the Mega Sale or the Merdeka Sale – where no powerful persuasion is needed to solicit a response.

justme pointed out this news in comments of the post about condoms. then i read about it in politics101 blog.

some self righteous people are making lots of noises over the picture of a model drapped in the jalur gemilang, that appeared in a men’s magazine.

“how can that be!”, “disrespect to the flag!”, “shameful!”, “take it down!”, “sue the magazine editor!” they cried. (ok ok i made them up but they do reflect people’s sentiments)

“humiliation to the flag!” cried the deputy internal security minister, noh omar.

ok i’m excited that tomorrow i’ll be blogging in our national language, bahasa malaysia (BM) for the merdeka blogger project. it had been a long time i haven’t use BM so i guess my BM must be a little rusty.

when i was in school, i got C3 for BM, consider quite okay since many of my friends got only a pass. well, when in school, my favourite subjects were BM and english. being a lazy bum in school, it’s not surprising, because people said that, BM and english, being language subjects you don’t have to study so hard. i mean like there are not boring facts to remember and digest like sejarah and ilmu alam.

ok i’m going to blog on this on wednesday actually (wee early morning… my usual blogging time) but since that day i’ll be blogging in bahasa malaysia (BM) for the merdeka blogger campaign, so i’ll have to blog on this today. i can blog this on merdeka day but i’ll have to use BM and this topic here would sure be difficult to blog using BM.

what will i be doing on merdeka day? i’ll be spending the whole day in the penang international sports arena (PISA) at relau, penang for our the penang diocese golden jubilee celebration (catholic church celebration).

ahh… so malaysia is now in the process of selecting the right person to become the country’s first astronaut.

imagine! 854 people applied for the post! didn’t know there were so many people that interested in going to the moon. however, it is not that easy to get selected. there will be a series of rigorous tests going on to short list the applicants. well, at the first test, a 3.5km astronaut run on 27 aug., only 12 applicants out of 31, managed to complete it within the stipulated time of 20mins.

well since merdeka day is coming, perhaps the government should consider changing their emblem to that of….. a condom! why?

…because it more clearly reflects the government’s political stance. a condom stands up to inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually being screwed. DAMN, it just doesn’t get more accurate than that!

the front page of the star paper had the big words ’stop it!’ - a request from our PM to gerakan president lim keng yaik and his deputy kerk choo ting to stop quarrelling with each other over the party elections.

and oh yes, what obedient ministers they are - they decided to stop the mud-slinging.

aww. no more sandiwara for us to see. no fair. i wanna see the mud being sling here and there mah.
