rights where police is concerned
on 8 may i attended suaram’s ‘know your rights’ workshop and i had blog about it.
i mentioned the most interesting part was on ‘police powers’ where mr arutchelvan talked to us about our rights when police stop us or arrest us and so on. well, i found out that in sun2surf one of its article published yesterday contained a part on know your rights where mr arutchelvan was interviewed, and all that he said there was exactly what he brought up during the workshop i attended. as my blog on the workshop was not in full detail, you can now go to that article to read about your rights where the police is concern. it is very interesting, i assure you.

the old man and his mouth again
now he talked about corruption. now he talked about taking action on the highest and prominent official. easy for him to said that now when he’s not in the ‘hot seat’.
regarding the new economic policy (NEP), he also said that the NEP was not about giving the malays all the privileges while expecting the other races to wait indefinitely but it was meant to give the malays a chance to catch up with the other races but along the way, the policy had been abused and misused by the malays.

oldies are goodies (like me. ahem!)
once upon a time there was this little boy in an orphange. he long for mummy’s kisses and daddy’s smiles but he got none. he saw people coming in the orphange and adopting his friends but people always never want to adopt him. he realise this is because he is blind. yes, he is a nobody’s child. he gets so lonely that he wish he could die, because he feel that if he walks the streets of heaven, he can finally see.

they want anwar back
a group of the ex deputy PM, anwar’s supporters had petitioned the king to pardon anwar.
his wife said:
“If he gets a pardon then he will (be) in the political arena of Malaysia. Now he cannot participate actively in politics, but with the pardon he will definitely be able to do that,”
*shudder. shudder* anwar back in politics?

tell your secret anonymously!
psst! did you as a child try to step on the cat to kill it? or maybe you once spit into a cup of coffee which you offered to your friend turned enemy? did you as a teenage boy once stole your mum’s bra to try it on? maybe you once wish that the devil would come to get your maths teacher after he had canned you for not doing your homework.
well, don’t keep all this to yourself. let it out. it’s good for the soul. now you have a chance to do so via this very unique blog.

crystal cave and hot spring
as i mentioned, on 23 may i went on a trip to the crystal cave in ipoh and the sg. klah hot spring park in sungkai, perak.
we left penang as early as 6.30am! first stop was at ipoh for breakfast, then off to the crystal cave. a guide, who is a staff in the crystal cave temple took us around. she only spoke in cantonese of which i understand only little bit here and there. luckily some of us in the group understand cantonese so when i was interested i asked for translation.

the meaning of ‘towering’
this particular letter, by one kamal othman from PJ, inthe star paper yesterday caught my eye.
———
IT IS an unfortunate choice of word to use “towering” to describe a competitive and successful Malay.
I hope the powers that be will change the word to something less boastful.
This is because “towering” sounds very arrogant and implies someone who is towering over others, superior to others.
In the context of a multiracial Malaysia, it is not appropriate.
Even among the Malays, we do not want to project ourselves as superior to others.
