open house? bah!! open your hearts first!

we pride ourselves in having open houses during festivals like hari raya and deepavali. yes sure, we open our house to friends to come share our joy, joy of our new year (hari raya, chinese new year), joy of good truimph over evil (deepavali), joy of jesus being born to us as our saviour (christmas).

er… excuse me, do many of you know that christmas is the time when jesus was born? perhaps you do. yes you do, as many of you say “christmas is jesus’ birthday”. but it stop at that. yes, jesus’ birthday but who is celebrating? who is partying? who is at the party? certainly not the birthday boy.

ok coming back to open houses, as you notice, the govt. had started having national open house (from which year ah?). for the coming christmas, there will be one on 25 dec. at PJ, selangor. great huh. the govt. is encouraging national unity thus have open house for all religion. but wait a minute… have you heard for this national christmas open house, the govt. has imposed an unofficial ban on all christian religious symbols and hymns that specifically mention jesus christ? i understand if no religious symbols but hymns (carols) without the mention of jesus? as rev. fr. oc lim rightly exclaimed, “it’s scandalous!”.

i picked this news from rajan’s blog, who asked “Why? Cause millions of Muslims would spontanously convert to Christianity at the government’s open house in Petaling Jaya if the word “Jesus” appears in a Christmas carol?”

ya. same thing like i always like to mention why ban muslims from visiting the christian ship, n.v. doulous (which btw stock muslim books too), or why ban muslims from watching a christian concert. the govt. afraid muslims just looking at books on christianity will spontaneosly convert to christianity?

coming back to the open house, why ban carols with jesus in it? what national unity are we talking about? what religious tolerance are we talking about? what is christmas without jesus? but of course to non christians, christmas without jesus is ok. but isn’t christmas suppose to be a religious festival? then if jesus is excluded, the religious factor will be missing!

hopefully, i pray the govt.’s next move won’t be that they ban christmas carols with jesus name in it for the dept. stores/supermarkets to play. for now, i still do hear hymns like ‘silent night, holy night’, ‘joy to the world’ playing in dept. stores.

ok more tomorrow, as it is now past my bedtime.
(which now, is 2.00am. blogger time seems to be 2 hours behind.)
