manifesto, manifesto
going through BN’s manifesto, under religion, apart from just mentioning islam is the official religion but malaysians are free to practise other religions, there is nothing else for the ‘other religions’. apparently BN’s manifesto for religion concentrate on islam and islam only and no other religions. sure i understand, since islam is the official religion, it is only right they go all out to build a progressive and modern islam. it is rightly so that islam takes priority.
but don’t you think if for BN to keep on saying malaysia is a multi-religious country and it respect the other religions and all that, its manifesto ought to include some ‘goodies’ for the other religions like maybe instead of the monstrous RM300 million per year allocated for islam per year, maybe, just maybe a fraction of that amount- say RM30 million (or RM3 million!) be allocated for ‘the other religions’? as it is now, we all know, the construction of places of worship for muslims comes from the gomen but construction of places of worship for ‘the other religions’ does not comes from the gomen. ahh… i must be dreaming. how on earth can this happen.
OTOH, i suppose BN has to concentrate deeply on islam so as not to be outdo by PAS. after all in BA’s manifesto (which include PAS), ‘new malaysia’, it speaks of ‘islam a way of life for muslims’‘.
btw, here you can find DAP’s manifesto.
