me and chaly
chaly had been with me since 1991. chaly is my most treasured lovable companion. he takes me to places i wants to go, and goes with me almost everywhere. i love my chaly a lot. without him, i don’t know what i would do. probably my social life would be nil without him. wherever i go with chaly, i always try to show him off to people. many a times, i spy people staring at chaly. they are probably envious of me having a good looking chaly. lots of people said chaly is cute, and many even wanted to take chaly away from me offering me tempting prices but no matter what, i would never part with my chaly. we are destined to be together forever and ever. i’m so damn proud of him.
ah… chaly, my one and only chaly. i can’t live without chaly. here’s a picture of my darling chaly
aha! got you eh! chaly is my bike, but please don’t think i’m one of those who give their cars/bikes/plants names. no no. chaly is the model name of this honda C70 bike. see, the name ‘chaly‘ at the beginning? it was a piece stuck to the bike that came off quite some time ago. intend to stick it back but couldn’t find the time.
sorry that the pic doesn’t look that good, with the shadow. i’m such a idiot at photo taking that i don’t even know whether the photographer should face the sun or the subject should face the sun!
i bought chaly second hand in 1991 for RM2350 . it was quite expensive but the motor seller said since this is sort of an ‘antique’ bike, it is expensive. at that time a new normal C70 honda cub (kap chai) cost RM2700, and friends said why don’t i buy a new bike then instead of chaly since the difference was only RM350.well sure i wouldn’t mind a new bike but the problem is i’m a shorty, you see. if i sit on the normal bike. my feet can’t touch the ground flat. the honda chaly is a small short bike… just right for a small short person like me!
chaly being small, people usually comment “how cute your bike is!”. i’ll response to them “no lah, the rider is cute, not the bike”. haha.
the original honda chaly actually looks like this. i don’t mean the original one that i bought. i mean originally how a honda chaly looks like. this pic was googled.
i had since modified the seat and add a basket in front. you see, the seat is rather small and whenever i had my mother as pillion rider, she being a little on the plump side, found it difficult to perch herself on the small seat. she said so little space for her and sometimes during the ride, she nearly fell off. so i decided to ask the mechanic to take off this small seat and install the normal honda bike’s seat. i made the mistake of not taking back the original seat for keeping. it’s good to keep it and install it back to keep to the originality as it would fetch a good prize (IF i do want to sell it). oh yeah i had also change the colour. when ibought it, it was red in colour. since i don’t like red, i had it sprayed to dark green.
talking about selling, yes, there are people who wants to buy my chaly… but NOT for using it. you see, the honda chaly is kind of an ‘antique’ bike. the year it was made was in 1981, and it bear the registration no. PAN 7602. (hey! empat ekor nos! quick, run to magnum or 3D!) i think, and they had stop producing this model now, therefore now it become ‘antique’. the people who wants to buy chaly from me are all men who wants to keep chaly as an antique bike in their house, or maybe they are hoping for one day to sell it off for a very good price.
well i’m not that stupid. i know my chaly is antique and i won’t be selling it… not ever. of course not only this reason but more importantly is i’m too attached to chaly already. beside, there’s no new bike yet that is as small as chaly. (i thought the EON’s comel bike is small, but it isn’t).
coming up next: mishaps on the road with my chaly.
