A date

A DATE

I make the first move
to ask him out
but he just wouldn’t want
to go anywhere with me.
I coaxed him, I cajoled him
I put on my sweetest charm
to invite him out
but he shook his head.
Not wanting to give up
I tried bribing him by saying
that I would buy him
his favourite sundae
if he would just go out with me
but still he said “No.”
Exasperated, I grabbed him
carried him in my arms
and amidst loud wailing
called out,
“Sis, I am taking our
two-year old terror out now.”
