the fatima apparition

warning: this is a religious (catholic) post, so those not interested, please skip it.
——————-

i’ve got to talk about this because of this person, who was my namesake. 🙂

lucia is dead! don’t worry it is not me, it is lucia, the last fatima miracle witness.
(other news on lucia’s death:
portuguese mourn fatima witness.
nation mourns the girl who saw ‘the virgin mary’.)

what is the fatima miracle (or rather apparition)? well, in 1917, three shepherd children reported seeing visions of the blessed virgin mary on a hillside near the town of fatima, in portugal. read about the apparition here.
the three children were francisco, jacinta and lucia. francisco and jacinta died much early while lucia was still alive until 3 days ago. she was 97.

when mary appeared to the 3 children, she gave the children 3 secrets, which were:
1) a vision of hell said to refer to the two world wars
2) predicted russia would one day return to christianity
3) involves martyrdom and suffering, including a man “clothed in white” who “falls to the ground apparently dead”

the 3rd secret was revealed by vatican only in june 2000 and apparently the ‘man clothed in white’ as predicted by mary was the pope john paul II. it refer to the failed 1981 assassination attempt against the pope. (not accurate prediction though as he was not dead from the assassination).

the vatican had a very very long say on ‘the message of fatima’ it is too long even for me to read so i guess you people won’t be reading it. i just skim through it, and read only certain parts.

btw, a week ago, i had received this email (one of the many forwarded emails… chain email) on the fatima secret from a friend. don’t ask me my views on the contents of the email because i’d rather not say anything about it… BUT i will say something on the last 3 paragraphs, not regarding the contents but regarding it being a chain email, particularly on sending out copies of this email to people. i never like chain email, no matter in what form, and of course never forward it as i don’t believe in all that stuff of if you don’t forward it, something bad will happens to you or if you forward it, good luck will follow you and all that nonsense.
