standing alongside with penang

as if attacking penang is not enough, now they are attacking virtual penang. sorry for using the word ‘attacking’. perhaps it should be ‘complaining’ or ‘making noises’. no can do? ok ok to be politically correct (ha. learn to say this after all the fiasco on banning jesus/christmas), let me say instead ‘voicing their concern’.

by now you would have live in a tree-house if you have not heard of the hoo-haa regarding penang losing its shine and all that ding dong dang. oh and on the star starting a stand-up for penang project. stand up for penang? not only will i stand up for my beloved penang but i will stand alongside penang despite all the bricks and stones and sticks thrown at it.

ok… what do i mean by attacking… oops sorry… i mean voicing their concern on virtual penang? take a look at this post of jeff ooi, from one of his many guest bloggers. notice, first of all it was jeff who started off with “if you think realworld penang is dilapidated, try virtualpenang”. in this blog, the guest blogger, claude, lamented that there is not enough information on the internet for tourists who wants to search for, say a hotel of their choice in penang, or a virtual map of penang. the one site he found (visitpenang) and the one site i recommend (exoticpenang) he found a lot of loopholes in them. since he said he is in this field (i suppose he meant something like in web-hosting?), i suppose his criticisms were justified. in a way, i do agree with him.

now if one were to do such a thorough search/analysis on other cities, say ipoh, melaka, JB, kucing, i’m sure the result might be more or less be the same too. only thing is that this time penang was picked and it stand out because of all the hoo-haas focusing on penang currently.

dilapidated virtual cities? sure, there are a lot of them around.

i wonder does jeff only receive negative views on penang from his guest bloggers or/and his readers? jeff, do put up some nice, positive comments on penang, if any ok, like this and this.

in case someone misunderstand me, no no, i’m not denying that penang has lost its shine. read here on what i had to say about penang.

at any rate, i wouldn’t want to swim in the river of the nile (ha! that is to borrow from wits0 – another way of saying go into denial) because if i do, the star’s columnist, vk chin would say i refuse to accept reality, am arrogant, complacent and smug. ha! ok ok actually i was twising vk chin’s words around. he was using those adjectives when directing at those who said that penang has not lost its shine because tourists are still returning to penang. so i’m out… but hey, look who’s in… believe it or not, our PM, pak lah!

this comment by vk chin was out on 23 dec. … 4 days after pak lah make this statement ‘state has not lost its lustre’. the first line says it all:
tourists keep returning to penang and this proves that the state has not lost its lustre, said datuk seri abdullah aAhmad badawi.
oh my, oh my, looks like vk chin is accusing (oops sorry lah. another strong word from me again) our PM as someone who does not want to face reality, is arrogant and his statement above smacks of complacency and smugness.

say, is the star owned by UMNO? nah, it was owned by MCA. oh! but both are under BN! (barisan nasional). will vk chin be admonish? probably not because not many people would be so ‘kaypo’ like me to go and put two and two together. heh.
