transparency is here?

is this good news or what? what, being maybe false hope for us. i’m refering to pak lah’s… call? promise? wish?… that govt. tenders to be open and transparent to curb corruption.

the news report starts with:
malaysian prime minister abdullah ahmad badawi says open tenders for government projects will become routine with few exceptions, so as to crack down on corruption.

why are there exceptions? what did he mean by that? some very multi expensive project that goes to thier (govt) cronies, are the exceptions?

it’s strange that just a day before pak lah announce the open tender, we hear of the news about penang’s monorail project where suddenly we were told the govt. had appointed a company to carry out the project. why no tender? just like PORR project… also no tender. where’s the transparency?

let’t not talk about transparency in tenders only but what about say in crime investigation esp. those involving big shots or VIPs. or even n investigation into like e.g. what causes the NKVE landslide.

malaysia indeed gain top marks for lack of transparency, i guess.
