i am a K-R-I-S-I-T-A-N

… so said my mykad.

never mind the strange spelling (i thought it should be ‘kristian’?), at least my religion is correct.

well, i’m sure you are aware of the hoo-haa that had been going on regarding many mykad holders discovering that their religion were recorded wrongly on their mykad. 300 christians had found that their religion were not entered as christians. due to this, many churches bought a mykad reader for their parishioners (church members) to check their mykad status. last week, my church bought one. actually it was not the priest who bought it but one generous parishioners who bought it for him.

when i insert my mykad in the reader, it says ‘baca data’ and i have to wait for several seconds (some, over a minute!) before the card can manage to ‘baca’ the data. well, first my name comes out, followed by mykad numbers (new and old), then ‘perempuan’ comes out. after this, it tells me that i am a KRISITAN KRISTIAN. the address follows. that’s all.

i realise that all the data that comes out are already visible on the mykad… except religion. so is religion suppose to be one of the hidden data? you know, like later on they will add other hidden data like driving license number, passport number, health status.

UPDATED: dunno what’s wrong with me eyes. the “T” i read as “I” and the second “I” i read as “T” thus i came to the conclusion that it is k-r-i-s-I-T-a-n, when it is suppose to be k-r-i-s-T-I-a-n – the correct spelling as it should be. my apology to NRD! they did not made a mistake. it was me who made the mistake. minta maaf, ya? also apology to those who were misled by me like david who said we should made a hoo-haa out of the wrong spelling. sorry eh david! and thanks to livingmonolith for pointing out my mistake.
