you must tolerate us! no question about it!

i had wanted to blog about this but seeing that politics101 had already blog on it and i had also make comments there, i’ll be doing a lazy cut and paste job instead.

it’s regarding the proposal by DAP jepong MP dr tan seng giaw to regulate the azan so that it will not be too loud. all at once all those UMNO monkeys jumped up and protested saying he was being insensitive and he should be more tolerant.

according to politics101:
The proposal by DAP Kepong MP Dr Tan Seng Giaw to regulate the azan so that it will not be too loud was met with objections from Muslim MPs and silence from the non-Malay-based BN parties at parliament yesterday.

Dr Tan said he had received complaints from constituents that the azan for subuh prayers was too loud for that early in the morning and that’s why he was seeking the help of parliament to regulate it. Kepong is a vastly non-Malay majority constituency.

my comments there (using my handle ‘lulai’, which incidentally is a combination of my the first 2 letters of my first name and my surname):

i find it strange that each time non muslims try to bring up something like this in a proper way, those muslims ministers would shoot them down at once, saying they are being insensitive or not tolerant and all that sh*t. whatever happen to dialogue? can’t they just listen for a while and try to see the sense in it before crying insensitive and intolerant? and who are they to cry intolerant when they can’t tolerate people’s views… just listen and try to see the negative and positive part of the views first.

it’s no wonder than that UMNO is against the setting up of of the inter-religious commission. to them islam is the official religion, enshrined in the constitution and all that blah blah and nobody should question anything islam… like the loud azan call. how sad for a multi-religous country where each religion is ask to tolerate each other… when the main official religion itself assume a ‘we are no. 1. nobody should question us’ position.

how sad.
