celebrating golden and silver jubilee

wow! what an exciting 2 days i had been through.

first, on merdeka day, as i blog here, i attended the diocese golden jubilee celebration at PISA. it was reported in the star paper of yesterday too under the heading ‘spirit of muhibbah at diocese jubilee do‘. muhibbah, because the mass was in 4 languages – english, mandarin, tamil and bahasa. apart from the usual chinese and tamil people present, there were, for the first time, a huge gathering of 300 orang asli people.

i was there early at 11.00am to help sell the golden jubilee souvenir book. the mass only started at 4.30pm and it went on for 3 hours!

then yesterday, i attended the bishop’s silver jubilee mass and dinner. the mass started at 5.30pm. i catch a glimpse of lilian in church when she marched in with the rest of the choir members, and we waved to each other. she looked very grand in her choir robe… nice design and colours. i sat just behind the choir.

after mass, there was a dinner at the church hall. i sat together with my colleagues. there were many intersting shows during the dinner. oh, the chief minister, koh tsu koon was present too. he made a short speech, after that he left. the penang police chief, CPO christopher wan was also present (at mass too).

the dinner started late – near 9.00pm! (when it was scheduled to start at 8.00pm). thus, it ended late too… past 11.00am, and by the time we got home it was past midnight already!

well since i got home late, i have no time to blog in details (might do it later – update it). this is just a summary.

note: the penang diocese website (maintained by yours truly!).
