oh no. i was away during the UMNO general assembly and missed out interesting speeches to blog on. never mind, it’s not too late. there is one particular topic that i wouldn’t want to miss blogging on.

presenting the keris (a kind of malay dagger) brandishing politician….

keris in the air, asking for the new economic policies (NEP) to be retained.

add to that of him calling for ‘policies favourable to the malays’ made him a racist keris brandishing politician. and of course so are the others umnoputeras who joined in with them holding up their hands, shouting, as hisham wave the keris about. yes, it’s racism, and racism and more racism.

the NEP was introduced in 1970 and was supposed to run for 20 years up to 1990 until the bumiputera achieved thier 30% equity but nowhere were they near 30% in 1990 so NEP continued. and now in 2005, after 35 years, we thought it’s time to do away with NEP. hey, our ex PM said so, that they depended too much on ‘crutches’. however, believe it or not, at the recent UMNO general assembly, these so called ‘new generation politicians’ demanded for ‘policies favourable to the malays’ (now, tell me that doesn’t sound racist).

gosh, what a friend told me long time ago it’s true indeed. these bumiputera (or rather umnoputera) are like babies who need to be fed thier daily milk (NEP) non stop.

20 years for NEP to be realised and it was not, so why pushed for it if it fail? after all, some UMNO leaders had promised too, that after 1990, NEP would stop.

and why always this fear of non malays dominating malaysian economy? why can’t they (umnoputera) concentrate on the global level instead?

i was also pretty irked by what another ‘new generation politican’ – UMNO deputy youth chief, khairy, said that they are not politicising this NEP issue but instead accused others of politicising it. he said:
