Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
(the chorus of michael jackson’s song ‘heal the world’)
(sorry, pictures were taken at night and with me amateurish work, they look awful. already did some touch up to brighten them!)
l to r:
* part of the crowd seated waiting for the dinner to start. at every chair, there is a ‘gift’ – a note with a lovely poem attached to a fern.
* two ladies from aceh, from one of the NGO in aceh, who coordinate relief works with POHD, giving a presentation of their relief work in aceh.
* the food stalls at the front porch of the building. l to r were lamb, char koay teow and ais kacang.
the penang office of human development (POHD) who was one of the groups who co-ordinated tsunami relief aid in penang, held a dinner on 14 may, saturday for all helpers and volunteers who had a hand in the relief work. about 80 persons turned up. it was a buffet dinner with barbecued lamb! there was also a char koay teow stall which proof to be popular as a long queue was seen all the time. oh, it was held at POHD office (also my office) building itself at the spacious front courtyard.
fr. fabian, POHD director gave a good speech thanking all the volunteers. he reminded the people that relief work is an on-going thing as there are many other causes to help or support.
we were shown a 20 mins powerpoint presentation, first touching on the tsunami disaster, then later on, on the works done by POHD.
at the end before we wrap up, michael jackson’s song ‘heal the world’ was played with the lyrics on the screen, which make everybody sing along! it was a beautiful meaningful song to end the night with.
