off to langkawi on a project
i wlll be going to langkawi early this morning with 2 of my church friends. we are taking the 8.30am ferry from penang to langkawi, and we’ll be back in penang on sunday evening.
why am i going to langkawi? you see, sometime back the penang office of human development (POHD) recommend us from the parish human development committee (PHDC – it’s like a mini POHD!) to take up this project of providing one good meal to the rohyingas refugees in bukit malut, langkawi. i had blog about it here (the last 2 paragraphs only), and here is an article i wrote too about us raising fund, and some brief report of the rohyingas’ plight.
our intention is give them one good meal, with chicken as everyday they only have rice and sardine. i know this is not helping them on a long term basis but at the moment this is what we can do first within our capacity. (when we meet them, we might have some ideas to see if we can help them long term). giving them a good meal a day means we will be making them happy for that one day – which is good enough, better than not doing anything at all, right.
we will do the marketing for the food ourselves and then bring the food to the rohyingas for them to cook on saturday (for dinner). of course we will then join them for the buka puasa dinner.
we received a lot of objections when we want to embark on this project but i persist and ignore the objections. when my heart is set to do something good, i will make sure i see through it no matter if i receive objections or face difficulties. some people if their hearts are not really set on doing a good deed, with just some minor objections or problems, they will back out, or even discourage you from doing it. i had learned not to be daunted by objections and criticisms… and any problems can always be overcome.
well, sunday will be a free day for us but we are going to catch the 2.30pm ferry. we might be at the ferry early to shop at the many duty-free shops! already some friends had request me to buy this and that! well if we have time on friday, we might go shopping too, to the market or some sight-seeing, but all these are not important at all as our main purpose is to be with the rohyingas. we hope that with the little we can do and are willing to do, will at least put some happiness and hope in the rohyingas of bukit malut, langkawi.
oh yeah i will be back with lots of stories and pictures for sure. in the meantime although there will be no blogging from me for two days but you will get to see a post each on saturday (on food!) and sunday because i’m doing the posts today and will have them published on saturday and sunday morning, so don’t stay away ya! (maybe when in langkawi if happen to chance upon wi-fi access can blog live via my pda!).
