There has never been any sign of such, not even a token measure of such a recognition. It is therefore correct to say that there is complete denial that poverty is actually a color-blind thing universally although one community, as a whole, may be more successful than another. But this cannot speak for all individuals, can it ever? Is there hope in any system/policy this selfishly racist?

Actually the help to poor Bumis should by all means continue eg in education, in training, in low costs housing etc-but the assistance should not exclude non-Bumis in similar predicaments. Helping the rich should be stopped now that they had overshot the target without letting the public know when it happened ! (Shouldn’t the one who kept it secret be penalised ?) From now on the government contracts, 30% preferential shares given to bumi should be phased out so as to make the rich from Bumi communities work for their earnings-rather than keep on as rent seekers. These measures will help put Malaysians on equal footing to contribute towards nation building and the creation of a country based on universal values like equality & liberty !

lucia: yeah, very well said. do away with bumi’s preferential treatment in economy/business now! look at everyone… the poor on the whole.
