corruption according to nazri
did you guys catch it? what that nazi… er…. nazri guy said regarding corruption? this was what he said:
The Anti- Corruption Agency (ACA) cannot investigate cases of political corruption or money politics because these offences are confined to political parties and not public transgressions,
huh? then who is to investigate them?
he gave the reason that:
political parties were associations for members only, hence positions in such organisations were not public posts.
let’s get this straight… if i understand him right. according to him, ACA can only investigate when it involve public funds, and political parties being ‘private parties’, when their members were involved in corruption, no public funds were involved, hence ACA not entittled to investigate them.
am i right?
when politicians played money politics, no public funds were involved? hello nazri, we were not born yesterday, you know. we, the public, pay taxes, contribute to EPF… all our money there are use to pay politicians. beside, who was is once said that politicians should be the servant of the public and not master to the public? politicians have a responsibility to the public when it was the public who voted them into office. their role is to serve the public sincerely. since politicians’ job is to serve the public, more often than not, when they are involved in corruption, it has to do with the public… they (politicians) are ‘taking money’ from the public – it does involve public funds and public projects, my dear nazri.
nazri gave this example:
For example, in a family where you have 10 children and you have a ruling that the family must decide on things together, and the father gives one of his children RM1 and says ‘support papa, not mama’ is that corruption?
he insisted it was not corruption because according to him ‘corruption is the abuse of public fund’.
well, well, i guess he doesn’t understand what is corruption. somebody should point him to wikipedia’s definition of political corruption.
Political corruption, corruption of a political system where public officials seek illegitimate personal gain through actions such as bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement.
‘illegitimate personal gain’ – in any which way, even through public funds or public project. i rest my case.
