finally received my readers’ digest

i finally received my readers’ digest. it was the oct. issue (picture left), received somewhere end of sept. at first i thought it was the sept. issue as i had not received it but was surprised to see it as the oct. issue. anyway, the wrapper that came together with the oct. issue (picture below) was a plastic wrapper with the name of readers’ digest office in KL (malaysia’s readers’ digest HQ, i guess).

the complimentary copy i received in august came in a paper wrapper and i think direct from that lousy company, emit asia. as i had blog here, emit asia had said they will send me a complimentary copy (aug. issue) then my subscription will start from sept. however, near end of sept. i have yet to receive it and so get down to complaining again (in my blog i mean).

when i received this oct. issue from RD in PJ, i contacted them and asked what happened to my sept. issue. the man there said that my subscription stated it starts from oct., not sept. fine. as long as i will get all my 12 issues. however i mentioned to the RD staff that i signed up for the subscription in april with emit asia and was suppose to receive the mag in july. and i complained to him the lousy service of emit asia. then surprisingly… or rather no surprise at all… he told me that they had already terminated their service with emit asia. emit asia is no longer their agent for subscription service. not surprise as i think others might have complained to them about emit asia, thus they terminated their service.

well as i had blog here, i had contacted consumers association of penang (CAP) to complain against emit asia and they had advised me to complain to readers’ digest instead. well, now that readers’ digest had terminated their service with emit asia, no point complaining eh? but wait, i will still write the letter to the media one day to complain about emit asia. methink the lady from CAP is right – we had better complain directly to the magazines’ companies and we hope they all (the magazines’ companies) will terminate their service with emit asia.

i’m glad now that i received the RD sub direct from RD’s office in KL. i trust them to do a good job to continously send me my RD.
