emit asia in m’sia sucks!!

update to my earlier post about emit asia, i had contacted the consumers association of penang (CAP) and what the lady staff advised me is to write directly to readers’ digest (RD) main office. she said write a letter of complain to the main office then cc to emit asia in malaysia. one big problem is that i had thrown away the wrapper that came together with the august issue of RD – because she said i need the wrapper for my subscription reference number. anyway i was thinking since emit asia said that august copy was suppose to be a complimentary copy and they will start the subscription only in september, there might not be any subscription reference number on the wrapper!

well i don’t really like the idea of what the lady suggested – to write directly to RD main office as this means i will be complaining only on RD. i did told her that there were a number of people who had complaints against emit asia but not for RD only. like serena, her complaints was on time magazine and national geographic. so what? serena has to write to time or national geographic? the lady said that if i write direct to RD main office, then RD main office will seek clarification from emit asia, its agent and ‘chased’ after emit asia. thing is i will be the only one writing in, it won’t be so effective. unless i have lots of people who also sub to RD and who are willing to write in, then it will be more effective.
i did ask the lady what about if i complained against emit asia, not to the magazine i sub to. she said in that case i have to go to the tribunal court… or was it consumer court… er… or maybe consumer tribunal court. court? the word court scare me lah. i guess what she meant was to sue emit asia, thus going to court. well as wits0 mentioned in comments in the previous post, the sum involved might not be worth it to go to court. (i paid RM108). and i do think this is not really a big matter to go to court.

well what i can do and will do is as ahpek suggest – to write to the star paper. this of course is just to publicise the lousy service of emit asia and make people aware of their dirty antics in pretending not to process subscription. hopefully if i do write and the letter do get published, others who were in the same boat as me will write in too.

i am now pondering of chasing after emit asia first, or write the letter first. i am thinking of calling up emit asia again and asked what the hell happened to my sub? why i no receive my sept. issue? should i call them and enquire or write the letter to the star first? even if i write to the star, i still have to call them to either ask them to send my RD or to refund me my cash. or the other way round – i’ll call them and give them a piece of my mind and at the same time also write to the star. whatever it is, i have to see my RM108 will not go to their account just like that! either refund me the money or continue sending me the magazine.
