operafest children’s choir
any of you heard of the operafest children’s choir? they are a famous choir but it seems that they are more well known internationally than in our own country!
the operafest choir (picture – taken from their own website) is the first malaysian choir to have won second place in their presentation of purcell’s ‘sound the trumpet’ in the famous llangollen, international eisteddfod, wales, and third place in the koorfestival of arnheim, holland, a choir olympics held once in every four years. they had once sang alongside the famous vienna boys choir.
well, the good news is our society of st vincent de paul, from the assumption church is organising a performance by them entittled ‘christmas joy’. it will be part of our fund raising, so this is consider a charity event to them, as they will not be charging any fee at all. we will collect donation of RM10 (or above) per ticket for those who wish to watch their performance.
i had seen them in action once many years back, and they were very good. for this coming ‘christmas joy’ musical recital, they will be performing numbers like mozart’s ‘jesu, holy spirit’, scubert’s ‘ave maria’, french carol ‘ring the bells of bethlehem’, handel’s ‘joy to the world’, mendelessohn’s ‘hark the herald angels sing’, welsh choir ‘deck the halls’ and many more.
as this is for a good cause, i hope those of you who are interested will support us. by donating only minimum RM10 you will be doing your part for charity and at the same time, get to enjoy beautiful songs/music rendition from an internationally acclaimed choir.
oh yeah, the date of the performance will be on 22 dec. (thursay) at 8.00pm at the full gospel assembly centre (formerly chong nam theatre) at air itam, penang.
