dengue – my area most affected

first paragraph of the star paper yesterday:
penang: residents of persiaran mayang pasir are living in fear following the high number of reported dengue cases in the area over the past two months.

penang had been declared as the hottest ‘hot spot’ of dengue fever and persiaran mayang pasir had been singled out as the worst affected area.

that’s scary news. why? you see, i stay just less than 100 meters away from persiaran mayang pasir. yep, i stay in mayang pasir area. one of these – jalan mayang pasir or tingkat mayang pasir or lengkok mayang pasir or medan mayang pasir – no, not that i don’t know where i stay but i’d rather not reveal my exact location (though i had revealed it once before).

in another report from the NST, it was reported that:
the state health department had intensified fumigation in mayang pasir, near bayan baru as the suburb had been identified as one of the 10 dengue hotspots.

intensified? so far from the day i blog about dengue, (i.e. 6 days ago) only once the place where i stay had been fumigated. well i’m glad in a way that as i mentioned earlier being on the top-most storey of our 5 storeys walk-up flat, so less chance of the aedes finding their way there. oh however, right in front of my unit, we have lots of plants in pots! ayoh. must take precaution that no water are retain there where the aedes can breed.
